Woody, vanilla aroma. Thin flavor, not what I expected for a 10% beer. Meh. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jun 8, 2009 Very dark stout like beer color. What head is there is a dark tan color. Mild licorice aroma, sweet. Smooth, cola like flavor with a weird tinge at the end. Sticky in the mouth afterward which is off for how watered down it seems. Disappointing for the who the brewers are. kiefdog (1602), Tampa, Florida, USA

Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of chocolate, brown sugar, ripe dark fruit, some wood and caramel notes. Generally medium body with a boozy malt finish. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 6, 2009 Bottle from DLD. Pours a dark brown that lets light through. Almost no head. Nose is brown ale all the way, rich and roasty, toasted malts, sweet molasses. On taste, it is quite boozy and sweet. I don’t get a ton of the wood character, with the exception of the tannic notes. Still, it’s hot and sweet and should have been a better beer. Meh. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Bottle from tweety. Thanks! Pours black with a lasting light tan head. Smell is like a brown ale with chocolate and toasty malt. Taste is fairly alcoholic and with brown sugar, toasty bread, some wood and chocolate. Medium to full body and medium to soft carbonation. A bit more alcoholic than I’d like, but decent. markwise (1179), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 31, 2009 Thanks TampaBrew for the share. Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Nose is brown sugar, roasted malt, whiskey, maple, and caramel. Flavor is similar with noticeable Palo notes from the barrels (a deep character is added from this wood), with lingering sticky sugary molasses and brown sugar. Barely noticeable hop flavor in this medium-bodied beer. Enjoyable, but very sweet. Ibrew2or3 (2761), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2009 Courtesy of TampaBrew. Pours deep mahogany with thin off white head. The aroma is musty malts, sticky wood, black licorice and faint booze. The taste is smooth and even with roasty malts playing against dark wood notes and a sense of dark fruity esters, toffee and molasses. It ends with a bit of hoppy bitterness. Smooth tasty brew. Yum!
