Nose is cocoa, roasty malt, some hop, dark fruit. Flavor is more of that roasty malt, a hint of burnt malts, tart but rich plum and very solid bitterness. Roast & burnt dark fruits in the finish with some mineral/chalk character. phaleslu (575), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

I’ve been eagerly anticipating this one, and like Shawn, I was let down. Pours a slightly cloudy brown with a small beige head. Aroma of alcohol, spices, wood, caramel, sugar, roasted malt. Flavor is also alcoholic from start to finish, with wood, sugar, caramel, roasted malt, molasses, smoke, spice, and dark fruits. Not particularly well-balanced, and too boozy tasting. Medium-bodied, and I agree with Shawn in that it was too syrupy. These two breweries can do so much better. shawnm213 (1002), South Bend, Indiana, USA

Pours a dark brown that looks nearly black in the glass with bits of light showing through the edges. The head is creamy and a little rocky with lots of carbonation feeding up from the bottom. This allows a solid cap to stick around for the duration.
The aroma is very big for a brown with chocolate, coffee and lots of wood. There is a big molasses sweetness with a heft caramel malt presence as well.
The taste starts out with the dark chocolate malts and just keeps getting sweeter with the molasses coming out in the middle. The finish is slightly drier with some toasted malts and espresso. There is also definitely the same distinctive wood character that I enjoyed so much in the Palo Santo Marron.
The mouthfeel is full bodied and super smooth with a strong carbonation and a sweet stickiness on the tongue.
This one reminds me a bit of the Palo Santo Marron and I love that beer, so it’s no surprise that I really like this one as well. It’s got a lot of bold flavors and a wonderful velvety mouthfeel. One of the best 3 Floyds beers I’ve had in a while. LooseCannon (936), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

Sampled from 22oz bottle courtesy of Andy. Appearance is a coffee brown with a smoke hue. Flavors and aromas are deep rich caramel and toffee. A bit of smoke from the Palo Santo adds a caramelized sugar tone to the brew. Mouth is sticky. This was a real nice brew, not sure what the low ratings are all about.

Take Home Bottle from FFF Brewpub. Alot of dark flavors in this, pretty dark black/brown pour. Roasted malt, mild chocolate, and an almost belgian accent. Not the worst thing ever.
