Poured a dark brown color with an average creamy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration.
This is a good beer. Guerde (702), Welcome, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 19, 2009 (bottle thanks OSLO!) Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma is strong of cocoa powder, with another dominant smell of what I can only describe as Nutella spread on toast, with a bit of roasted malt thrown in as well. The taste is also full of chocolate with roasted malt, wood, and a bit of hops that finishes out with a long finish of dry dark chocolate. The finish got to be a bit cloying for me, and I definitely could not drink an entire bomber of this as it’s very rich. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation was smooth. Thanks again, Al! deyholla (695), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 19, 2009 Bottle. Poured dark brown, almost black, with a brown head. Aroma is very grainy, almost bread like with a hint of alcohol. Flavor is full of malty grain notes as well with clear alcohol in the finish. BeerandBlues2 (3216), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Pours dark brown with an average, frothy light brown head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie, straw), average hop (flowers, herbs), average yeast (dough, earth) with notes of raisin, plum, and peach. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. mabel (2612), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Wood shavings aroma has something like mild minty port-a-potty hints?! Dark brown amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. Long woody malt flavour has toasted coffee notes. Medium body. Nice but a little rough, very odd aroma.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 18, 2009 Pour is just amazing. A very dark brown liquid with a very thick off white head that sticks around and leaves some thick lacing.
Scent is floral hops with a caramel malty background.
Taste is unusually rich. Has characterisitics of a stout but the hops don’t feel out of place here as theydo to me in a textbook stout. The mouth is unusually creamy and thick, good.
Overall a very good brew. FFF barely dissapoints but u gave had some issues with DFH, so I didn’t know what to expect here. A definite winner. OSLO (826), Perth, Australia

Aroma is unusual, some solvent, nuttiness, palo santo wood, and malt. Taste is kind of strange as well--moderate bitterness, grainy husks, chocolate, vanilla, and hazelnut. Sounds better than it was. Medium mouthfeel, very dry, long finish that had mostly chocolate in it. Wow, this was sort of a mess, and not at all what I was hoping for. I loved the DFH Palo Santo Marron, but this was just not very good. ditmier (1076), Boise, Idaho, USA
