Lots of fruits on the nose and flavor, dominated by currants and plums. Pretty full-bodied with a bit of a alcohol burn on its way down. Gets credit for a badass label. Cool collaboration between two of my favorite breweries. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2009 22oz bottle. Slightly underated in my opinion. Nose is woody and intense with lots of sweet malt and caramel and some roasted nuts. Lacking some complexity or depth that I can’t quite put my finger on. Flavor is better with a good layer of flavors backed by a huge malt backbone and very little hops. A bit like the Palo Santo but with some interesting hops and a deeper raisiny barley wine/scotch ale flair. Kinda neat. RSRIZZO (1368), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Color is a deep dark brown with low carbonation and a small off white head. Aroma of sweet malt and roasted nuts. It has a medium body that seems lighter then I was expecting. Finish comes in lightly sweet with flavors of raisins, wood and nuts balanced out with a mild bitterness. Overall its ok, but I thought it would be a lot better. hopdog (5590), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of woodiness, chocolate, some roastiness, nutty, and caramel. Tastes of wood, caramel, chocolate, and some citrus. Alcohol content well hidden. egajdzis (3626), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of caramel malts, nuts, some roast, toast, and wood. Taste of caramel malts, nuts, toast, cocoa, and light piney hops, with some alcohol and a dry, woody finish. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 13, 2009 Bottle pours a deep brown with a smaller bubbly off white head. Aroma of the palo santo wood, caremel, nuts, dark fruits toasted malt, cinnamon and peppery notes, cocoa and there are hops there but nowhere near being over the top. The wood really comes through and smells like an aged barleywine. Flavor of toasted malt, toffee, citrusy hops, roasted malt, cocoa, grapefruit, floral, light coffee and chocolate and the santo wood for sure. Not as barleywine like in the flavor and not as aged, but still a very solid beer. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Aug 11, 2009 22 oz bomber purchased at the brewery in Munster, IN in June 2009. Live in DFH territory but have yet to see this one, had to go to IN to get this one.
Pours to a deep tawy brown color with a tight, tan head that fades and a moderate to soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is very pleasing. Lots of good spice aromas of cinnamon, pepper, and vanilla pair with some grassy/herbal hop aroma. Hints of chocolate and light coffee notes as well. Really a lot going on here. The palate offers the same, good caramel and chocolate malt flavors pair with hints of cinnamon, vanilla, and coffee and an undertone of estery fruit. This beer finishes with more good dark malt and coffee flavor up front, then ends with a touch of fruit and coffee roasty flavor.
Very impressive. Dangerously drinkable as it hides its 10% abv very well. I like Popskull, well worth buying if you see it.
