Pours a deep dark mahogany color out of the bottle but appears pitch black and completely opaque in the glass with only the slightest hint of mahogany edges when held up to a light source. One finger light beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Slightly earthy chocolate malt aroma with subtle oaky vanilla, vinous dark fruit and cherry cola notes. The palo santo wood is subtly integrated into the aroma but doesn’t overpower the other scents. Slightly vinous, chewy medium body with lots of silky dark malt, tart dark fruit and subtle earthy oak character. Lots of sweet dark chocolate, caramel, toffee and vinous dark fruit. Hints of grape and sour black cherry adds a sweet balance to the dark malts and although the wood presence is subtle there is a prominent vanilla character that smooths things out nicely. The high ABV is excellently masked, making this beer kind of dangerous. Complex and fairly quaffable. I’m glad I got a chance to try it.

22 oz bottle thanks to Ditmier. Pours a dark mahogany with a fizzy beige head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, wood and a bit of sour cherry funk. The flavor is pretty much equal parts sweet malt, hop and roasty bitterness, and a tart sourness. Medium to full body with lively carbonation and a long finish. This is a very unique beer, thanks Eric for giving me the chance to try this.

Pours deep brown with a thin cream colored head. Full nose with molasses, coffee, roasted malt. Same in the flavor with the addition of a lite fruit influence. Medium full mouthfeel.

GTMW. Pour was medium golden. Flavor was strong with sweet malt and a rich complexity of citrus hops. This was a nice Am. strong but I was expecting more. Still a great brew.

Sampled from 22 oz. bottle. Pours a dark amber/clear brown color with a small white head. Aroma is malts, chocolate, caramel, touches of fruit. Flavor is malts, dried fruits, touches of malts, touches of roast, oak character. Reminded me of the fantastic Palo Santo, which isn’t surprising since it’s the using the same barrels to age.

650 ml bottle. Dark amber body with a fine off-white head. Aroma is mild malty, chocolate, caramel and fruity. Flavor is sweet, smooth malty, dry fruit, floral, some alcohol and a very balanced bitterness. Quite robust and still smooth as silk with a well hidden and warming alcohol. Nice.

211109 Tasting with Ungdomsklubben. Pours a clear brown with a diminishing head. Sweet with hints of Belgian yeast esters. Some woody notes too. Hints of residual sugars . Medium bodied with a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Soft carbonation.
