Very nice aroma that is a showcase of fruity citrus like orange, grapefruit, and tangerine. all enhanced by a sweet maltiness. The flavor has tons of juicy hops that burst with grapefruit and tangerine. There is a big malt body that is on the sweet side, but a massive bitterness perfectly balances it. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Malty, but in a way that enhances the hops instead of takes away from them. I was worried that I might not get a fresh bottle, but this seems pretty spot on as to what I was expecting. Maybe not the freshest, but hardly worse for wear. For how much hop goodness this exudes, the balance is spot on. tgncc (809), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2009 Beautiful aroma of peach, orange, other citrus fruits, a nice citrus hop aroma, caramel malts underneath. The appearance is true to the IIPA style, orange, relatively clear, thin white head. The flavor is excellent as well. Like the aroma in the sense that there is a strong fruitiness, citrus, caramel, the hoppiness almost takes a backseat. This is a little surprising. The citrus hops (the one type of hops I pick up here) definitely linger nicely on the palate. Like the sensation of eating a grapefruit. Medium thick mouthfeel, a little slick, light carbonation. I expected a thicker feel, to be honest. This is one beer that will always have a hard time living up to its rep, but is definitely an excellently crafted beer. bobbypaulson (100), , Minnesota, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jun 11, 2009 Just stopped by three Floyds about 3 weeks ago driving to Minnesota and had the chance to buy this beer. Just cracked open bottle of it and was over joyed with the smell that came out of the bottle before I even poured it out. The citrus hopy flavor made me overjoyed. Poured it out and the golden orange color filled the glass with a nice white head. Once the aroma had a chance to breathe it was like a pine forest in my kitchen hop heaven. The taste is great nice and citrusy with of course a hop bit it’s perfectly balanced with so malt and not too crazy bitter. Great beer!!!!!!! jsh12bama (335), Alabama, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2009 Had this years ago and it was fresh and I was completely floored. Have had numerous times since and never rated because I never had a fresh one. Well, this is close as I might get. Pours orange with white head. Aroma of piney hops. Taste is citrus hops and nice balance of malt. Hops not as overwhelming as I remember. Medium mouthfeel. Easy drinking. Good but not great. scrizzz (1263), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 3, 2009 Oh the expectations! Clear dark gold, tall white head rose above the glass and threatened to spill over for a second. Big sticky hops, pineapple, orange and grapefruit. Reminds me of the first Hop-15 I had. Actually kind of salty up front. The hops seem to have fallen off though I was told it was a fresh bottle. So balanced the strong and intense flavors cancel. There’s caramel malt and sticky resiny hops, but I want these beers to come through in waves and these flavors end up flat. I’m not saying it’s not a good beer, but I was expecting fireworks. | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 29, 2009 Pours a deep orange with gold around the edges, almost tan head that lasts a short time. Nose full of floral, yeasty hops with fig and peach accents. Explosion of deep flavors. Fruity stone fruit highs with a with an almost quadruplel style backbone. Amazed! How did they fit trappist complexity and depth into an IPA without sacrificing the distinctive kick of fresh hops? Notes of toast and bread ground the malty middle for a truly amazing beer. hallinghansen (265), Odense SV, Denmark

Aroma is amazing...piney hops, with sweet malt and mango, pineapple, and orange aromas. Taste is hoppy, but beautifully balanced with sweet malt and fruit. Alcohol is well-hidden. Very smooth and crisp. Soooo yummy.
