WakeandBake (422), Greenville, Michigan, USA Feb 27, 2009 22oz bottle. A nice cloudy amber color pour with a thick white fluffy head that hangs around a while, lots of nice lacing left all the way down the glass. Aroma of hops, resin, high alpha hops such as citrus, peach, melon, and pine, with some sweet malty notes coming through.Flavor is awesome very fat and hoppy, you can feel the bitterness in your cheeks, piny, fruity hops and a nice sweet caramel, toffee malt backbone to balance things out. Very smooth mouthfeel,a little sticky. Nice bitter hop finish and just slightly boozy. Top shelf stuff for sure, one of my new favorites. beerater (16), Dayton, Ohio, USA Feb 26, 2009 Just another ho hum unbelievable beer from Three Floyds. Perfect balance for a double IPA. The great thing about the double IPA category is that you can get so many different experiences from a single style. To appreciate the category, one should acquire a taste for better IPAs first. blipp (1631), Newark, New Jersey, USA Feb 25, 2009 Bottle from Jamvin23. Pours golden orange with an off white head. Sweet hoppy aroma, with fruity citrus, grapefruit, and fresh flowers. The flavor is actually relatively well balanced. Loads of citric and floral hops, but enough malt to make it not overpowering. Fruity flourishes add a nice sweet complexity. The finish was hoppy but not palate destroyingly bitter. I actually found this very easy to drink, quite enjoyable. Not the palate destoyer that I expected, but a very drinkable and accessible IIPA. thenick (742), North Bellmore, New York, USA Feb 24, 2009 Updated: Mar 10, 2009Sample @ EBF ’09 - Whoa. Pours a hazy orange color with a smallish white head. Aroma is incredibly hoppy, with pine, citrus, mango, and peach detectable. Taste is pine up front, with mango, peach, and citrus detectable in there. It finishes with a vicious hop bite, almost like the beer was mocking me for being so unworthy of it. I absolutely loved it, and I’m deeply disappointed I can’t get it around my area. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Feb 23, 2009 Bottle shared by Daknole. Thank you! Pours hazy deep apricot-orange color. Smells slightly oxidized. Thick and hot with wafting pineapple. Lots of earthy and pine hop notes. Pretty chewy and high gravity feel. Herbal, with fir and basil. Quite a masculine IPA. nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 18, 2009 The aroma is very nice with pine, citrus, flowers, mango, peach, and caramel. The appearance is hazy amber with an average head for the style. The flavor is like the aroma with a very bitter finish. The palate is typical for the style. Overall this is a decent beer but overrated. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Feb 18, 2009 perhaps I am missing something, but I do not find this outstanding by any means. the aroma gives a lacking aroma with a hint of mineral water at the end. taste is harsh in the hop front with none of the real outstanding IIPA flavor. palate is full and the there is a slight amount of fruit but over ll this is an overblown. IPAaLLtHEwAY (136), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Feb 15, 2009 I am not actually leaving a comment, this is me opting out of that. However there are a minimum number of characters i must type so... You should all worship heavy metal!
