jamvin23 (162), chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 15, 2009 Bomber. Golden orange appearance with an almost white head. Aroma: Piney, overwhelming citrus/grapefruit. Taste is sweet with citrus, hops, hops and more hops all the way through! Alcohol is very well masked. SHANER4 (370), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Feb 15, 2009 22 oz. bomber - Poured clear copper color with medium head.
Aroma - WOW!!..MANGO madness with a little peach and pineapple.
Flavor - pungent mango and grapefruit taste with slight hint of alcohol.
Palate - medium to heavy mouthfeel with average carbonation. Finish is throat numbing and smokey which I liked!
Overall - Has better mouthfeel than Hopslam with great finish! I still prefer Ruination due to the fact that its more balanced. The second best IIPA in my book!!...so far Sonicdescent (374), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 14, 2009 This is a sneaky mofo, the alcohol content is very well masked. Piney and resiny in smell and taste with a nice coppery color and thick head. Very good stuff and another winner from FFF.. poolboy (66), Lafayette, Indiana, USA Feb 12, 2009 Copper color with healthy white head. Loaded with citrus and hops. Some malt with a bready taste. High alcohol but doesn’t taste like it. Medium carbonation with a great IPA aftertaste. This is a great one. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Feb 11, 2009 22 ounce bottle in pint glass. Clear copper with lasting head and lace. Pungent sweet lemony lemonade and mild biscuit aroma. Toasted caramel biscuit with grapefruit and melon and brisk resiny hop-flavored lingering bitter finish. Medium-full body and medium carbo. Absolutely delicious and very hoppy with tons of flavors and none of them off. Well-hidden alcohol, virtually no taste or smell. At 9.5% this could be dangerous. Awesome. Deserves the hype. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 10, 2009 On tap at FFF. Nearly flawless - this and Pliny the Younger are the best examples of this style there are. Clear deep golden-copper color with a nice white head. Aroma is citrusy hops and sweet caramel malt. Really enticing. Strong hops deliver a backhanded pimp-slap off the bat that hits you like a Mack Truck in the ass. Malty sweetness is right there with it to balance. Flavor is top-notch and finish is smooth with hop oils coating your tongue. It’s really too bad you can only get this stuff in Munster, Indiana. DalzAle (476), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA Feb 9, 2009 Bottle recieved from my brother in law as a birthday gift (thanks Neil!) Pour was a clear apricot pour with nice carbonation. Aroma of syrupy rich hops and citrus. Flavor was a wonderfully mellow grapefruit, some mango and some barely noticable and pleasant alcohol warmth on the incredibly smooth finish. I can definitely see why this is rated so high. tarheels86 (704), Washington DC, USA Feb 7, 2009 500 mL. Pours a beautiful clear copper with a modest white head. Okay lacing. Aromas of powerful grapefruit, mango, orange peel, resiny hops, floral hops, orange blossom honey. Taste upfront is crazy grapefruit and unripe mango and then moves to hazelnut and brazil nut. Aftertaste is dry and bitter. 9.5% is nicely hidden. Very good but I feel like this is not as fresh as the Bells Hopslam batch I just tried and thus not as amazing.
