Aroma of some citrus-ish hops, more mango, some sweet malt. Flavor has a ton of rich, sweet malt, but never becoming heavy, and a good quantity of airy, citrusy and moreso citric hops. Citric would be the key word here. Bold, but balanced in all aspects. I actually feel like a slightly fresher bottle would have been nothing but a hop bomb to me (not sure which hop varieties are in here, but I’m pretty sure they’re not my favs), but as consumed, was quite tasty and as mentioned, surprisingly easy drinking for such a quantity of that sweet malt. Very good, although certainly not in my personal top 50. LilBeerDoctor (1492), East Setauket, New York, USA

Aroma is very citrusy, some grapefruit, iced tead and some sweet malts sneak in. Flavor is very sweet, lots of iced tea and citrus. Not as bitter as I was expecting. Quite drinkable for a 9.5%. Just a little too sweet for me. This is a good IIPA, but not my favorite, and there are plenty better. kegbear (265), Orange, California, USA

Stong floral aroma with peach dominating. Tastes of peach, mango and citrus. Starts off friuty followed by smooth light malty tastes and finishes crisp and dry. This is my second favorite IIPA only behind Pliny the Younger. Trappistenbier (42), Belgium
| 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Aug 9, 2008 This is a most amazing IPA. One of the bests I ever had. Fruity, extreme hoppy, sweet and such a density. Orange, somewhat hazy color. Longlasting, small head, not much carbonation.
This is a true example of a typical American quality IPA. Congrats to Three Floyds. This is great brewing ! AndyReynolds (281), Wilder, Kentucky, USA

This is an awesome IPA. The aroma is very hoppy with hints of citrus, malts, and pine. This beer has the most fresh hops smell I have encountered. It is balanced for the amount of hops as it goes down. On the pallet, there is a hop explosion with malts coming out. The finish is an awesome bitter bite. foundmd (163), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Beautiful floral aroma with citrus, mago, and peach. Intense, balanced hops flavor with hints of citrus and pine. Incredible depth. This is a very drinkable Double IPA that has become one of my absolute favorites. An essential brew. djcoolhark (21), South Bend, Indiana, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Aug 8, 2008 Probably my favorite beer from FFF. Unbelieveable hops taste just hits you from the first sip to the aftertaste. Citrusy taste with the bitterness of an IPA but not overpowering in the least bit. This one manages to take every IPA taste out there and put it all in one beer without over-emphazising any one taste. Somehow FFF manages to get their typical brewery taste into this one in full force. stefanje (938), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 7, 2008 650ml bottle from Secret Santa (sprinkle), Pours a translucent copper color with a small quickly diminishing off-white head. The aroma is classic IPA with citrus and pine. The flavor is biter hops forward with caramel and pine filling in the sides nicely. The alcohol is well hidden. The mouthfeel is full, malty and a bit syrupy. The finish is medium in duration with lingering hops and caramel. Overall: A very fine IPA/DIPA, but not better than fresh stuff from Ballast Point, Alesmith or Coronado. Still I’m quite grateful for the chance to drink a bottle, thanks mike.
