| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Pour is a deep copper with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, with grapefruit dominating. Lemon (?) is present as well. Flavor is also heavy with citrus, with grapefruit being the main player. Finish is very heavy with hops. Finish coats your mouth with heavy bittering hops. Carbonation is pretty heavy as well. Excellent IIPA with great bittering. doubleo (1104), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2007 I like this beer but I was expecting more from a name like Dreadnaught. Not bad at all but just a little too sweet. Pours a cloudy honey color with a thin head that is white and dense. Not a huge nose on this brew, slightly citrusy with a little bit of a grassy, hoppy smell. Tastes very sweet up front with a good amount of bitterness on the back of the throat and tongue. Some citrus in there maybe a bit of grapefruit and some caramel sweetness. Pretty thick with decent carbonation. Not a bad big IPA. Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA
| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Dec 28, 2007 In the world of Imperial IPAs, there’s simply nothing better. This is one amazing beer as is every Three Floyds that I’ve had the opportunity to try.
Pours incredibly hazy orange, not much in the way of a head but no matter....
Good grief, I smelt this thing 3 seconds after cracking open the top. Super, super citrusy hop aromas with a huge pineapple or peach influence. Man, this is right up this hop lover’s alley.
Mmmmm.... Everything I hoped it would be. This is just over the top hoppiness all the way here. 100 % juicy citrus hops here and I love it. You know what you’re getting when you crack this open and it certainly doesn’t disappoint.
All other IIPAs bow to this one as king. Unfortunately, I have to drive 4 hours to get my hands on this. I have 5 bombers of this left and wish now that I had gone ahead and bought a case.
God, these guys know how to make beer. They’re over the top, in your face brews and that’s just the way we like it. WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 26, 2007 I was shocked to realize that I have never had this, couldnt pass it up. Not overated at all, an incredible DIPA. Despite the IBU’s, not one flavor dominates with the citrusy and sweet backing. Thick with almost no foam, it goes down real smooth, but take it slow. Will definetly grab more the next time I see it. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 26, 2007 Updated: Feb 18, 2008Pours a murky orange with the slightest bit of head. Grapefruit and malty aroma. Tastes similar with a bit of hops and other citrus fruits like lemons and orange. Syrupy with little to no carbonation, no sign of the higher ABV. Slightly bitter but the malts balance that out. A decent IIPA.
alright, after 3 or 4 more bottles I finally got one with a good hop character. It still isn’t quite as hoppy as most people say, but it sure bumps it up. Original score was a 3.2 darn1207 (543), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

I’d had this at the 3floyds brewery but hadn’t done a proper rating. hazy orange pour with medium to large fluffy head. grapefruit and hop aroma. hoppy and citrus flavor up front then lots of malt to balance. long crisp finish. one of the best beers I’ve ever tried. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 24, 2007 Pours a hazy amber orange with small head but great lacing. Smells of huge hops, piney, grassy and citrus rind along with grapefruit. Taste is a wallop to the buds and I love it. Delicious, power packed hops but as soon as you want to pucker a nice balance of fruit and malt make this an incredible balanced DIPA. Alcohol is not present other than a little warming. Carbonation is perfect as is the medium mouthfeel and crazy drinkability. Finishes a little dry and bitter from the hops but does not sting or linger. If I had access to this I would have it batting cleanup. A must try for any true BA.

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Ruby color with a rich, creamy, white head that slowly dissipates. Tiny bubbles shoot up the glass to the little island of head in the middle, leaves a nice lacing. Lemon, citrus, a lot of grapefruit aroma, actually smells thick with grapefruit. Taste is loads up with the lemon and citrus, but the grapefruit is most definately dominant, almost like a concentrated grapefruit juice. Be prepared, full of juicy hops. Thick, sticky on the tongue, full bodied and high carbonation explode flavors onto your tongue. This is great on occasion, but would probably wear out your palate if had too often. Get some if you can.
