hopslayer (9), Nashville, Tennessee, USA does not count Aug 10, 2007 This is by far the best IPA on the market. The hops are balanced perfectly with the malts to create an amazingly smooth finish. For a beer that pushes 9.5% with 100 IBU’s, this is an amazing brew! M0RHI (1067), Luxembourg, Luxembourg Aug 10, 2007 Bottle, chris o shindig. Slightly hazy, yellow. Nose is soapy hops, citrus. Mouth is sweet malt, which lingers to the finish. Too sweet on the palate for my liking. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 10, 2007 Cloudy rust orange pour. Head recedes quickly. Oak heavy aroma. Sour mash whiskey, apricots and citrus scented hair spray. Peaches, honey, and weeds. Dirty. Flavors of tobacco, hot grapefruit juice, wet oak chips. A bold rush of green tea leaves in a firey wave of hops. And booze. Similarities to poorly rendered scotch are rampant. Powerfully earthy and woodsy like soil wet with rainwater. Hot with cayenne pepper at the finish. Slick and menacing. A hint of vegetable frying oil – the kind that coats the floor at your local fast food choice. Palate is abrasive and belligerent with boozy aggression. Not that detailed or drinkable. Mostly hype. Thanks Brian! jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Aug 9, 2007 Bottle@chris o. Pretty much a standard Imperial IPA with lots of hops. Still more drinkable the some althoug one glass is enough. krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA Aug 8, 2007 on tap @ FFF. medium copper color with no head on my pour. appears to have very low carbonation. grapefruits, other citrus fruits, mango and a nice grain smell all pour from the glass profusley. this one is dripping with lush citric hop character and is close to perfect. smooth velvety mouthfeel is extremely well structured never revealing its strength. lemon drop candy and pine show off big time with glowing results. my one complaint is it’s too easy to drink! mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 7, 2007 Updated: Dec 29, 2007[485-20070804] 22oz (c/o HogTownHarry). Sweet fruit aroma with strong citrus hops and some pine resiny notes. Hazy, amber red body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Great big boozy citrus hops flavour. Full body has noticeable alcohol. Rather impressive, though not yet a favourite. (8/4/7/4/16) 3.9
[754B-20071012] 22floz. Citrus lemon rind hops aroma has some grapefruit. Hazy, dark orange brown body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. Bitter grapefruit and navel orange hops in the flavour has a boozy almost sweaty notes. Medium body, very bitter finish. Bitter and hoppy goodness. (8/4/8/4/17) 4.1 toncatcher (228), Santee - SAN DIEGO, California, USA Aug 4, 2007 22 oz bottle. Pours golden with a slight off-white head. Aroma of pine and citrus. Flavors of sticky hops, it seemed to be all about the hops. It could have used a little more malt to balance. Didn’t live up to the hype for me. padrefan98 (787), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Aug 3, 2007 Bottle thanks to fordest and toncatcher for sharing. I wish this was tasted independently with nothing else. Unfortunately we did a horizontal of some FFF. By the time I got to this one I was fried. I think the hops were a little too much, but I dont usually say that about double ipa’s unless it’s Hopsickle. I need to retry this one.
