Golden orange pour with a thick, creamy white head. Aroma of pineapple, mango, grapefruit, and pine. Bitter grapefruit hop flavor balanced with caramel malt sweeteness. Alcohol virtually unnoticed. Mind-blowingly good. Near the top of its class. GandGKevin (189), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Aug 19, 2009 I’ve tasted this twice and have had the same impression. It’s a very good DIPA but it’s not the best I’ve ever had. Slight grapefruit and pine aromas. Flavors follow the aromas with grapefruit and pine. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and the finish is extended. Overall it is very good, but quite honestly I like Avery Maharaja much more. alagnak (327), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2009 Aroma is really nice, lots of citrus and a nice burnt toffee thing from the malt. Really resinous on the tongue and roof of mouth, but really complex and well-blended flavors of papaya, grapefruit and apricots. Malt really balances the brew and makes this very smooth and drinkable. A little sugary heat on the finish that seems out of place with the rest of the flavors. Really nice. mkade8883 (52), Goleta, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 16, 2009 Source: Bottle from jdskinns.
Glass: Bourdeaux wine glass
Aroma: Lots of fruit and citrus, with some caramel.
Appearance: Light orange in color, with small white head.
Flavor: For a beer with a reported 100 IBUs, it really doesn’t show. It’s a very smooth taste with some fruit (apricot), and some caramel malt. Very pleasant and drinkable.
Palate: Light carbonation with a short finish.
Overall: A really solid IPA, though I prefer more kick to the bitterness. esjaygee (1519), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2009 On tap at the GTMW. Definitely the best offering I’ve had from FFF to date. Amber with an off-white head that leaves some lacing along my glass. Aroma is a citrus bomb with nice amounts of caramel malt and some fruity notes to boot. Taste is fairly balanced though nice and big like a DIPA should be. Plenty of citrus, orange and other assorted candy hops to go with a big amount of caramel malt. mkunz (18), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Golden, slightly orange. Aroma is malty, candy, a bit of pine with citrus hops. Taste is extremely well balanced between malty and hoppy, almost too well balanced. A good beer. drowland (1380), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 14, 2009 Yummmmmmmmmmm! I got this while visiting my brother in Indianapolis. It’s not my favorite DIPA out there, but it’s still quite good. towerjac (25), Lansing, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2009 Just like every other high gravity IPA with respect to appearance and aroma. However,
balance = bitterness/sweetness < 1 so I’ll stick with Hopslam.
