Sammy (3041), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 8, 2004 This is a very good best bitter accompanied by some hops. Spruce, a lot of grapefuit, some citrus in a malt base. Orange colour, somewhat cloudy.
kosko20 (81), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Aug 29, 2008 great brew, description in a few days...not everything I hoped for but I can’t complain...on tap at brewpub Beerman6686 (680), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 28, 2008 Pours a hazy orange color with a nice off white head. Aroma is of a lot of citrus hops and peaches maybe. Flavor is very abundant, nice citrus hops and some pine mixed in, and the fruit flavor in the hops really comes out. Really good stuff, but not quite up to par with Pliny or Hopslam. Hophead22 (146), Redlands, California, USA Aug 24, 2008 22oz. bottle. pours a really nice orange/yellow, nice lacing white head. Nice grassy/piney aroma, smells real good. Has a hell of a hop kick to it, pretty well balanced. Pretty nice beer overall. As it warmed it became incredible, BrotherGrendel (135), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Aug 23, 2008 Poured into a Stone OG tulip glass.
Appearance is an opaque dull orange with some amber highlights, thin layer of off-white creamy foam that dissipates to a ring, swaths of sticky lacing on the glass.
Smell is big, fragrant hops, mostly floral and pine resin, slight citrus tones, caramel and toast malts linger as does slight alcohol, very flavorful and delicious.
Taste is initially sweetened pine hops, transitions to thick chewy caramel and bready malts, tones of oranges and cotton candy, finishes bitter with a hint of alcohol warming.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, creamy and slick resiny texture, carbonation is ample but moderate.
Drinkability is high given the abv, a flavorful and balanced DIPA that has a nice interplay of hops and malts, I am impressed with the hop presence and this continues my obsession with this midwestern brewery. bretupdegraff (52), , Indiana, USA Aug 23, 2008 Golden Orange pour wonderful aroma sweet and fruity and hops
Layers of flavor - not as bitter as I was expecting - very smooth. This is not my favorite style of brew but it is very good.
