| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jun 16, 2003 Updated: Jun 29, 2003This is, indeed, a massive brew. I was impressed by the potent, exquisite hop aroma dominated by notes of pine and grapefruit. Pours copper with a white head. Flavor is powerful and sweet, characterized by grapefruit and citrus hops notes, with a strong, sweet malt background that balances any bitterness the beer possesses. The alcohol is not as well hidden as it could be, and the IPA leaves a bitter alcohol aftertaste in the throat (reflected in the palate rating). If you are ever in the mood to run a marathon and finish, refuse your friend's congratulatory overtures if he or she hands you a cup of Dreadnaught! This sticky, powerful IPA is meant for judicious sipping. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA

Body is a dark tea colored hue with a firm and lasting thumb thick tan head. Aroma is a full frontal assault of citrus and pine hops that leave nothing else to smell save some vague sweet maltiness that leans to fruit, but who can really tell with their nose hair seared off. This doesn’t smell, it attacks. You can tell the ingredients are quality, but it is like too many spices in the gravy.

Fore is thick and oily with a colossal hop presence that is bitter enough to cause one to recoil. The hop acids are so thick you can feel resin building in your throat. Curiously though it isn’t bitter so much as it is oily. If you just love hop oil this is nirvana. If you like the hops to stay in the back and play second fiddle or to be crazy bitter this beer will drive you crazy, like it is driving me. I literally can’t taste anything else but the tongue burning hottness of hop oils.

Huge floral nose with pine/grapefruit notes. Beautiful pale orange color with pillowy white head that leaves copious lace on the side of the glass. Very sweet malt backbone with tons of grapefruit hop flavors. Very clean hop bitterness in the finish. Really an excellent beer. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 18, 2007 Bottled. Hazy and deep golden orange coloured with a rather large off-white head. This is really well balanced. Notes of malty sweetness and bitter hops. Hints of pines, caramel, flowers and citrus. Yummy! mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 4, 2006 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange body with a small white bubbly head. The aroma is AWESOME! Orange and grapefruit are prominent here along with some bready caramel and pine notes. Thick and chewy hops...really, this thing is massive. The alcohol is completely overrun by the ridiculous amount of body. Awesome. Who brought this?? OleR (2111), Oslo, Norway
