Commercial Description:
A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

A hazy amber baby with a smooth balance of hops and malt. A good example of how balance can make a high hopped beer with malt come together in excellence. If you ever wonder what balance means wrap your hands around this baby in your taster warm it up to about 60 and roll it around it your mouth. EXCELLENT. Much like a statement from the movie waynes world. "I’m not worhty".

Bottle from Sprinkle. Lovely orange color with hints of amber. Aroma is very bitter and quite spicy. Some deep ancient redwood sap quality. Very bitter. Balanced though some sweet mandarin qualities. Very nice, very tasty.

courtesy of hopshunter. Pours golden, white head. Aroma and flavor, lots of hops, plenty of citrus and lemongrass. Some caramel malts come add a nice finish. Overall beer is more on the sweet caramel side than the hop bomb I was expecting. Still a great beer.

22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with pnista. Pours a hazy orange gold with a moderate off-white head that lasted through about half the beer and laced the glass well. Very pleasant aroma of bright, fruity orange and grapefruit along with some caramel. The flavor loses a bit of the fruitiness and gains citrus pith bitterness, but is well balanced against a strong caramel backbone. Fairly smooth and silky mouthfeel despite the strong bitterness. Full bodied. Very enjoyable.

NUM pours a cloudy golden color w/ a big fluffy white head that laces well. The aroma is a big floral hop w/ a very crisp bite and a nice orange component w/ a light malt backbone. The palate is thick full bodied and creamy. The flaovr was a nice well balanced floral and citrus hops w/ a sweet carmel malt. Overall this is what EVERY OTHER IPA should aspire to become.

GABF 06. This one lived up to the hype. Aroma is pineapple, citrus, and malt. Taste is sweet citrus like flavors with a nice full bitterness that gets strong near the back of the palate.

Nice amber color, small white head that had only a slight amount of staying power.Mild malt aroma that gets over taken by a huge hop presence and a fruity hiint to it mostly grapefruit.Very hoppy taste with a mild sweetness and a definate grapfruit hit,the after taste was citrusy with a stong hop bitterness that lasts a long time. This is one hell of a good brew, and i'm not even a decent hop head so i'm not worthy of this stuff but i can say this is definately a brew to seek out and thankfully i managed to get one from Jpdipso. Thanks for the experience.

rerate-january 2005 vs april 2004 bottles-the 2004 bottle actually held up very nicely with still alot of hop notes that have mellowed but still very present. Fresh is the way to go here though. I love the hop aroma and hop presence in this beer. Still, my fav beer to date. lots of grapefruit and pinneapple notes from the hops. sampled at the brewery in Indiana-WOW!!! what an incredible brew!!!! HUGE malt that didn’t last long in the taste but followed by the biggest hop presence ever known to man. people are saying this is to thin to be the best, but i thought this was definately full bodied-nice and syrupy-hop heads will be blasted away by this-its been 8 hours since i had this and i still have hop burps-the best beer i have ever had!!!!
