Fresh is the way to go here though. I love the hop aroma and hop presence in this beer. Still, my fav beer to date. lots of grapefruit and pinneapple notes from the hops.
sampled at the brewery in Indiana-WOW!!! what an incredible brew!!!! HUGE malt that didn’t last long in the taste but followed by the biggest hop presence ever known to man. people are saying this is to thin to be the best, but i thought this was definately full bodied-nice and syrupy-hop heads will be blasted away by this-its been 8 hours since i had this and i still have hop burps-the best beer i have ever had!!!! scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

I could smell this beer all night. Nose is chock full of sticky sweet pine, grapefruit, caramel, brown sugar, with a hint of apricot. Flavor is an intense hoppy bitterness with a sweet rich malty backbone for balance. Just awesome. Full bodied, soft carbonation, smooth, bitter-sweet, mojave dry finish. Glad I can find this any day, any time. Believe the hype and find yourself some ASAP! AmEricanbrew (1955), orange, California, USA

Has a clear copper color with a light yellow head. Medium bodied and smooth. Taste starts with a nicely bittersweet hop assault on the taste buds followed by a good dose of malts which add a light caramel sweetness. But this brew is about the hops; as it warms the flowery and grapefruit hops emerge and make for a nicely bitter, crisp and clean finish.
One of the best Imperial IPA’s out there.

Hazy orange pour with a great head that left lacing forever. Aromas of fruit cocktail. Flavors were amazingly sweet with a decent hop finish that didn’t bite so much as refresh. Great stuff. Wonderful beer. I love it. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 27, 2003 Auburn color. Big nose, massively piney, perfumey, has a bit of sourness and mustiness reminiscent of a forest in Spring. Taste is explosively hoppy, very tart, with corresponding large malts. Surprising hint of nuttiness in the malts. Amazing palate, creamy, full, and huge, beautifully matches the heft. Gooooood stuff. tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA

The nose is lots of pineapple, mandarin orange, mango, wheat bread, and a wisp of alcohol. The flavor is more piney than the nose, but has a good dose of fruit as well-- grapefruit, various tropical fruits. It is a little bit woody in the middle, with some brown sugar sweetness. Bitter finish with grapefruit and some tannicity and a round alcohol warmth. Quite good. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA

Wow. Went to Rich O's for this in New Albany, Indiana. Excellent stuff. As everyone else says, big citrusy (grapefruit) taste with pine and a bit of caramel. Very good but wish I could find it in a bottle to take home.
