I wanted to rerate this due to the fresh hop profile. Pours clear orange with a white diminishing head. Great aroma of toasted malt and fruity hops. This one goes beyond the typical grapefruit aroma, I pick up melon and apricot. The flavor follows the aroma. The hop profile is bold without being overpowering. The complex fruitiness of the hop flavor balances nicely with the caramel and toasty flavors of the malt. The mouthfeel is perfect, slightly resiny. Nice crisp bitter finish. Hops really linger on this one. One of the best american imperial IPA’s you can get in my opinion as far as balance. I could see some extreme hopheads not thinking this one is up to par. I love hops, but I like balance...and this one does it. I like the FRESH bottles the best. You get more complex citrus notes. Now my complaint...the price. $11.50 per bottle is a little high. I used to be able get this for $7. I will still buy this one, but less of it. If you are on a budget. Hercules Double IPA is a decent substitute. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA

The HMS Dreadnaught. Big. Fast. Potent. Making all warships before it obsolete. Massive. Impressive. Deadly. A flagship. Well, Folks, that’s what this brew from Three Floyds is. Pouring hazy amber from bottle conditioning, foamy off-white head. The aroma is intensly grapefruit/hops. Any other notes are inconsequential. Sniff and enjoy. Intoxicate your nose. Move on to sipping. The feel in the mouth is rich and creamy and full. Slight tingle. And the flavor. Hops. Grapefruit. Intense. All guns blazing. Knocks you on your ass. Delicious. The flagship for IPAs. Oh, yes, I do like this beer. Dreadnaught rules the IPAs. Palidor19 (1798), Brandon, Florida, USA

This is the second Dreadnaught I’ve had, and it’s tough to approach this beer after reading soooo much about it. It’s a lovely brew, with a full and rich body, fine lacing, and a huge floral hop aroma. The first time around I thought the malt presence was too intense, but now I’m feeling it a bit more and the bitters give the beer a bit more balance and integrity. I still don’t necessarily think this is the top of the mountain, but it’s clearly top notch. sunevdj (1788), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

Pours a clear orange with off-white head and lacings. Smells of alcohol and grapefruit. Slightly malty backbone but otherwise big loads of fruity hops - pineneedles and tropical fruits. Also notes of a bourbon and cherries. Slightly sugary. rudolf (1787), Buffalo, New York, USA

Hops garden and sweet malt nose. This is truly the ultimate IIPA. You could never confuse it with a barleywine like some other IIPAs (Great Divide comes to mind here) Huge grapefruit/citrus hops, cotton candy malt, perfect freakin finish. Reaffirms my love of the style. Enjoyit (1782), Vadum, Denmark

Masiive citrusy, piney hop nose, lots of sweetness as well, caramel, biscuit, candi sugar. Initial flood of citrus, orange, grapefruit, mango, apricots is followed by lots of sticky sweetness, caramel, sugar, toffee. Finish is medium length with a touch of bitterness and lingering sweetness. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth. Very nice beer, quite a unique taste. Would like to see this in a 12oz. bottle as the sweetness gets a big overwelming after 22oz.
