thanks to boltz7555 for bringing this gem to the PHX local 666 meeting... pours an amber color mixed with orange-brown topped with a whitish head. floral aroma is packed with sweet caramel grains, grapefruit and a touch of pine... very simple and straight forward. the flavor is very similar and simple with a rather dry and tart citrus finish. this is greatly appreciated since my palate is bombarded by sugar the entire time! medium to full bodied but somehow not sticky. oily texture. far too sweet to be enjoyed.

The first '20' I've given in the overall impression category, many many thanks to EddieG for hooking me up with this brew, what an experience, orange in color, great soft & fluffy white head, good lacing around the glass, huge hoppy & citrusy nose, very bitter flavors, spicy, dry, awesome malt profile which leads to outstanding balance in this beer, both a sweet & spicy finish, very smooth & drinkable, certainly is as hoppy as other IIPA's but this seems a little less intense, it's more mellow, it's a bit better for overall mouthfeel & drinkablility, an absoutely outstanding beer, I need to have more!!!

Bottle Poures a very hazy light orange amber with a nice thick dense off white head and lots of lacing. Stong hop aroma but balanced well. Citrusy mainly. Flavors were very strong with ops and malts very well matched. Quite sweet and with a very smooth almost creamy texture. A great example of an IIPA. Thanks to MrFacto for sending this my way.

What a start! Pours phenomenally and aroma is top notch. Pine, spice and hops smells come off the beautiful amber body with creamy head. Flavor blends excellently... even though it is heavily hopped it doesn’t come off as overdone. Citrus/grapefruit, evergreen, hops, they’re all in a silky smooth package.

#400!! Bottle. Pours a deep orange with hardly any head. Aroma is very citrusy, some grapefruit, iced tead and some sweet malts sneak in. Flavor is very sweet, lots of iced tea and citrus. Not as bitter as I was expecting. Quite drinkable for a 9.5%. Just a little too sweet for me. This is a good IIPA, but not my favorite, and there are plenty better.

Aroma packs a punch. Lots of grapefruit, citrus, lemon, orange, mango. Great. Flavor has all of the above and a lot of sweetness. Balanced but hangs on for a while, in every direction.. Delicious.

(10/16/08) Bottle at friends’ house in Philadelphia. Slightly hazy amber color with a medium beige head. Aroma full of hops, citrus, some piney notes and some balancing caramel and biscuits. Sweet flavor with quite a bit of malt, caramel, some biscuit notes, a bit of honey and some nutty notes. Continues bitter and hoppy with nice grapefruit and lemon notes but the malty background is always apparent. Medium to full-bodied. Very good and quite balanced.

My third bottle of Dreadnaught, but the first with reliable provenance regarding freshness. Pours a nice clear copper-orange color wtih a sparse thin white head. The aroma was heavy, resinous, spicy, fruity, rich, and lightly alcoholic. Very piney. While the aroma was piney, the taste was more grapefruity and much hoppier than the aroma indicated. The jarring hop blast occurs throughout the bottle, not just on the initial taste. The finish lingers and tingles on the palate for a while. The thick syrupy palate and low carbonation allow for proper chewing of this trademark brew.
