Aroma of some citrus-ish hops, more mango, some sweet malt. Flavor has a ton of rich, sweet malt, but never becoming heavy, and a good quantity of airy, citrusy and moreso citric hops. Citric would be the key word here. Bold, but balanced in all aspects. I actually feel like a slightly fresher bottle would have been nothing but a hop bomb to me (not sure which hop varieties are in here, but I’m pretty sure they’re not my favs), but as consumed, was quite tasty and as mentioned, surprisingly easy drinking for such a quantity of that sweet malt. Very good, although certainly not in my personal top 50. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Feb 10, 2009 On tap at FFF. Nearly flawless - this and Pliny the Younger are the best examples of this style there are. Clear deep golden-copper color with a nice white head. Aroma is citrusy hops and sweet caramel malt. Really enticing. Strong hops deliver a backhanded pimp-slap off the bat that hits you like a Mack Truck in the ass. Malty sweetness is right there with it to balance. Flavor is top-notch and finish is smooth with hop oils coating your tongue. It’s really too bad you can only get this stuff in Munster, Indiana. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

I took my first sip and entered another world where huge grapefruits, hops, brown sugar, oranges and other berries dance in eternal bliss. I took another sip and decided I never wanted to leave this glorious place. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA

Pretty nose: nectarine, sweet/stale musky wood, bananas sweet hops. Viscous and creamy on the palate. Intense hoppiness fading into nice notes of eucalyptus and some sweet malt. This is a very unique IIPA. I love the different aromas and flavors. Wish we could get it in MN. brewblackhole (1385), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Feb 20, 2005 my 300th review had to be something special. I couldn’t have made a better choice.Impossible to find in Wisconsin, it was stumbled upon in Chicago. 10 bucks for a 22er, but with the rave reviews it had gotten, why not? WOW, the most powerfulfull blast hop aroma I have ever experienced, short of sticking my nose into a bag of hops. Lots of malt in the taste to counterbalance these hops, not quite as much as Dogfishhead 120,leading to a full rich hopaccented taste. That wonderful aroma was there the entire glass, like your drinking it in a hop field. For a hophead like me, it was the most pleasant drinking experience I’ve had in years. Lucky I bought 2 bottles. I’m deeply saddened at the same time that this is so inaccesible to me. I believe this is only my third perfect score.I would like to know how long this stuff keeps, so next time I can score I can buy a trailerload to store. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
