Pours a burnt orange with minimal head. aroma has a bit of the peach, citrus, floral, and pine hops, some malt. Taste is mostly hops: flowers, citrus, pine, some fruit, with a slight alcoholic burn. Mouthfeel is full, lightly carbonated, sticky. Overall, this is a great bee. Impressive for the style, and in general, i recommend it. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2007 Bottle, Chris_o shindig. Copper, smallish white head. A very 3 Floyd’s aroma: melon, musk, mint, faded orange peal. Full chewy hop flavor. Good, though I think not quite at it’s best. I bought this bottle many months back, and while it’s been kept well, this certainly is not a beer to improve with age. Just couldn’t justify opening it alone. Head was off white and large. The nose was pine and grapefruit hops and lots of yeast. The body was a good amount of mouth feel and the finish was smooth and rewarding. The taste was fruity and had a hop bit, and then the yeast again. I enjoyed this, but, the only negative to me was the amount of yeast. I let this settle for days and enjoyed on my birthday. Great brew. JohnnyJ (1350), Carlsbad, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 26, 2007 A delicious IIPA. Hops, orange, grapfruit, citrus, more piney hops, and well balance with caramel, malt, and toffee. Beautiful brew. boto (1341), Granby, Connecticut, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 17, 2004 22oz. Bomber Bottle: My first one from the Floyds. The beer pours a slightly orangish-amber color. It is a bit hazy. There was some head to it, with a bit of lacing. The aroma is killer: Hops, hops, hops. You could even get a good whiff of them just from the open bottle. Some pine and grapefruit notes to the aroma. The taste is ful of hops, but the balance is superb: they don't overwhelm you like Stone can. There is even a hint of sweetness to the beer. Thanks to Bert (aka slob) for the great trade. fly (1332), austin, Tejas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 5, 2003 Updated: Jun 17, 2005So what’s the difference between an IPA and a barleywine? Paper or plastic? I once thought I knew these answers. Hellifiknownow. HellifIcare. Helluva beer. While I admit that on occasion I will seek aroma by administering it to myself via small amount placed in nasal spray, this one waltzes across the table with arm outstretched to introduce itself as a cousin of your old uncle Avery and the hog heaven where he lives. So, the hops let me understand the IPA nomenclature while the hefty malt introduces my ass to the old familiar couch. Does indeed have a dry finish, there’s sweetness with the hops enticing another taste after taste until the damn thing is gone and I have to ponder the label. It’s not normal. Either am I. Guess we can be friends. Many thanks to krisbierjaeger. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Updated: Feb 25, 2008Pours syrupy, dull faded amber with little head, seemingly undercarbonated. Citrus aroma with the mentioned peach and mango and a hint of meatiness. Rather still on the tongue. Big hop flavor again mostly citrus and tropical fruit. Has some vegetative and metallic notes. Soft palate and perfect bitterness. Little perceived alcohol. Maybe this years not as good as past but i find this to be both over rated and not as good as times I’ve had previously. kwoeltje (1326), Manchester, Missouri, USA
