Commercial Description:
A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

Dark golden clear body, big white head fast away; Huge nose but not as deep as expected, lots of flowers, apricot, sweet pine; Super full body, with a very soft texture and carbonation; Medium length in a way sweet finish, again flowers, apricot, but ending of very pine-like. Generally much sweeter then bitter, lacks balance. The bitterness only truly steeps up in the very late finish. Very disappointing!

I have had this on tap and in bottle many times and I am now finally putting my rating to RB from a 22oz bomber thanks to Holdenn for picking this up from the brewery for me. Slight cloudy orange/dark amber with large, creamy, long lasting off-white head and lots of lacing, settles to a pancake head, pretty beautiful. Aroma is very fresh citrus hops and bubblegum with caramel, very enticing. Flavor big pine and citrus with sweet caramel, alc, bubblegum, all the while settling to a nice gooiness on my tongue. Full, creamy body. So well balanced and yet such a hop bomb. Three floyds can make all the Helles and Alpha Kongs they want as long as they never stop making this wonderful beer.

Pours a hazy orange color with a nice off white head. Aroma is of a lot of citrus hops and peaches maybe. Flavor is very abundant, nice citrus hops and some pine mixed in, and the fruit flavor in the hops really comes out. Really good stuff, but not quite up to par with Pliny or Hopslam.

This beer is about HUGE amounts of hops. Beer has massive hop aroma of skunk weed and pine. Beer pours beautiful copper brown with a huge off white head that is fully retained. There is heavy lacing. The flavor is marvelous with an initial huge hop assault. The flavor then mellow as some nice malt sweetness kicks in. This is the best IPA going. It should be interested to see how the ratings within syles are altered after the new styles are introduced. This will obviously be in the Imperial IPA cagegory.

Bottle. Aroma of sweet malt and citrus hops. Good smooth palate. The flavor is strong, a little less malty than I anticipated. The grapefruit / piney hops are nice and linger for a long time.

This is a surprisingly thick, dense beer for an IIPA. Copper color with a medium head but great lacing. Aroma was all about the citrus/pine hop characteristics that carried over into the taste. Flavor was also complimented by the malty sweetness that dulled any harsh hop bite. Finished much smoother than I had anticipated.

From a 22oz Bottle. Deep, golden orange body with a thick layer of well sustaining fizzy off-white, golden head. Loads of hops in the aroma, supplemented by a canteloupe-like malty sweetness. Pink grapefruit juice and orange zest abound to create a citrus fruit hoppy bouquet, softened by a squeeze of mango. Full bodied, creamy carbonated mouthfeel. Slightly sweet, ridiculously juicy start on the palate, just dripping with freshly squeezed oranges and pink grapefruits. I’m quite impressed by how soft the mouthfeel is. The hop characters are also quite rounded and soft, considering the obvious dominance - I wonder what vintage this bottle is? It was consumed just days after purchase in the store. Most of the hop bitterness comes out on the back end, again citrusy, will some soft notes of red pine. An extremely well hidden alcohol slowly warms during the final smack. Quite tasty overall; I’m rather suprised how much I’m enjoying this beer considering I usually shy away from big bodied IPA’s. I’d like to taste it fresh on tap sometime to experience the maximum possible punch in the face from the hops. Thanks, Dillon!

Big ups to brewblackhole for sending me this one. My favorite double IPA to date. An aromatic hop explosion. Big hop taste lacking the usual sweet sugariness that overpowers some other double IPAs.
