Commercial Description:
A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

Bottle, 22oz. (RBNAG 07) Pours an orange-golden, almost clear pour with an off-white to beige head. It sure has a hop-dominated aroma, fruity, tropical fruits and citrus, pine and resin, with a heavy maltyness in the supporting role. Nice flavor too, fruity, piney, malty, quite sweet and sure bitter. Fruity, piney, bitter finish as well. Full body. Loved this IIPA, beautiful mix of hops and malt. (071103)

Starboard, a massive grapefruit sun illuminates a whole flotilla...The faintest vernal whisper gleams and reflects unto the stretched sail as our main galleon is adorned by every species of hops known to flourish...Ambrosial jewels glitter on the vines and trees which they share; green apple, white grape and mandarine juices are bursting from the skins they have torn, creating elating, frugal fireworks explosions...The ventriloquist hops assume all of their possible incarnations and dance ecstatic in their wood, citrus and grass avatars...Tight-laced wild honey and smooth caramel evoke a love-thought...The clean have definitely been separated from the unclean for this crushed forest wine...Swallowing this flavorful iconography, I drift aloft and gaze into contentment...Yes folks, I am carrying, with one hand, the Garden of Noah’s Ark...

Bottled: Well here it was standing in front of me, ready to be consumed. I’ve gone thru some things to get hold of this, but thats a story, I’ll keep to my self. Egajdzis was my saviour when he kindly traded this to me. Thanks a lot, friend. Is it as good as antizipated. Not quite, but its still a damned good beer. Amber/orange coloured. Light dusty. Off white huge dense head. Obviously there is a huge amount of hops in the nose with some herbal notes. Not as extreme as I thougth it would be. Flavour is very very hoppy. Has some caramel and fruity notes. Light herbal and spicy. Not a very balanced beer, but these beers seldom are. Has a killer bitterness in the end. As said this is a fine beer, but I had expected more. Thanks again, Eric.

Bottle courtesy of Footbalm. Pours copper with a nice white frothy head. Smells of yogurt, sugar, citcus and corn. Tastes of caramel with a big hoppy pepper like finish.

Very hazy orange coloured brew with a fairly sticky white head. Aroma is quite nice. Tropical fruit, cascades and a lightly peppery alcoholic note as well. Some light candyish pale crystal malt sweetness. Floral and moderately perfumey as well. Fairly prominent on the orange peel and citrus. Flavour is quite pepery with a prominent alcoholic bite. There is a sticky resiny hoppines over a fairly prominent sweetness. Plenty of hop flavour but also with thick sweet and alcoholic character that reminds me of 90 minute IPA. Fairly sweet and sticky on the back. It’s good, but it’s not really my cup of tea.

Big clear amber with a huge white head. What a glorious nose full of fruit cocktail: pears, pineapple, grapes, and all other sorts of citrus fruits. A very strong hop aroma, similar to Alpha King. Maybe some mango and papayas in there as well. The flavor is just as awesome as the aroma. There is a background wood flavor and some light smoke. Not an intensely dry palate, somewhat wet and with a thin finish. Overall mouthfeel is just thick enough for a good IIPA in my book. This just has an extremely fresh taste and aroma. Very nice.

By the Goddess Eris, I love these Three Floyd folk. Just finished a bottle of this marvelous stuff. It pours a rich, golden orange color with a slight head but bubbles up the sides of the glass the length of the drink. Sweet floral aroma with a hint of the citric... grapefruit. Thick bodied and makes your lips sticky as you drink. Flavorful malts with a sweet-sour mouth-feel. The nose tingles the entire time, exciting this hop-head. Great bitter finish. MORE!!!!!

(Bottle) Deep amber with a moderate beige head. Aah Christmas, the aroma of a fresh cut fir and sweet grapefruit, with a backdrop of sweet malt. Wonderful caramel and toffee start the journey, with each step going deeper into the pine forest. Clothed in warming silk, with out a bristle to snag as the flavors unravel. The sweetness travels well and helps cut through the twines of hops. Half way through the bottle and the aroma and alcohol are calling me to lie down for a rest on the hopsack pillows. Drunken apricots and plums swerve through the sky impaling themselves on the Christmas tree as decorations. What fun!
