Commercial Description:
A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

Could be my favorite beer. I have paid 84 dollars for a case of bombers several times now. It is worth it in my opinion. Sexy orange pour with a fluffy white head. You can smell this brew from the second you open it. Pungent centenial hops hit your nose with great force. Tropical fruit too!!! Massive bitterness with enough malt to keep you going back for more. Finishes with a zesty hop bite. Great beer. Serve warm with little age.

I flew to Chicago and drove to Munster, Indiana for this beer. After loading the rent-a-suv, I drove straight home, to Boston with it. This I.P.A. Came in a 22oz. Bomber. Once poured (into one of those new engineered Sam Adams glasses) the head is small and disappears quickly. The beer has a fairly floral hop aroma. It has a very fruity hop flavor that lingers for a few moments. You will honestly want another gulp and then another glass. It feels a little filling in your mouth with the pops of various fruit and that delicious hops. Once down the hatch you quickly find a beer that isn’t as filling as you’d assume. I find this beer to be an awesome example of what an IPA should be. Hoppy floral aromas with a fruit/hoppy taste and after taste that doesn’t overwhelm. This beer aims to please the hop head with making you feel like you’re chewing on hops. Over-all an aweseome beer. Heck I flew to Chicago and drove to the brew pub to buy this stuff. Then drove home 18 straight hours for it.

(2006 version) poured from a 22oz bomber into a snifter glass A: Looks like many top-quality DIPAs should look, a deep orange rust color, very clouded or murky. You won’t be reading a book while peering through this beer. Very little head but nice oily lacing. S: Oh so complex! Some mouth-watering malted bread scents meld beautifully with citrusy and perfumy-like floral hops. I even detect some notes of vanilla and peach. Sweet but not cloyingingly so. T/M: Amazingly well-balanced double IPA, delicious mixture of fruity citrus & moderately toasted malts; VERY bitter grapefruit finish, massive hops, lingers a long time; slightly syrupy, but just enough carbonation to make it easy to take larger sips; damned near perfect. D: If this wasn’t bomber-only, and 9.3% ABV, I’d request a Dreadnaught transfusion instead of blood. But alas, it’s not, so I’ll just drink as much of it as I can. :-) Highly recommended, a stalwart of the style.

Awesome. Great aroma. Very ice ambe color on the puor. Not alot of head due to the glass I used. The flavo is unreal!!! Nice citus, hop balance, and very smooth textue on the tounge. Followed by a lingering almost orange cady like taste on the tip of my tounge. Go get it....... What are you staring at? NOW!!!!!!

Top notch imperial IPA. We drive down to Munster IN from Chicago specifically to drink this on tap. We can get it on tap in Chicago, but it just doesn’t taste as fresh-- maybe it’s just our imagination. One of the best beers I’ve ever tried.

One word comes to mind...JUICY!!! Once the bottle opens, the aroma pours out and the salivating begins. Thick pillowy head and burnt orange liquid fill the glass. The brew starts sweet, but the hops kick in quickly...amazing balance. Undoubtedly, the best Double IPA I’ve ever had!!!

Just stopped by three Floyds about 3 weeks ago driving to Minnesota and had the chance to buy this beer. Just cracked open bottle of it and was over joyed with the smell that came out of the bottle before I even poured it out. The citrus hopy flavor made me overjoyed. Poured it out and the golden orange color filled the glass with a nice white head. Once the aroma had a chance to breathe it was like a pine forest in my kitchen hop heaven. The taste is great nice and citrusy with of course a hop bit it’s perfectly balanced with so malt and not too crazy bitter. Great beer!!!!!!!
