Commercial Description:
A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

A perfect beer if ever there was one. I believe this is my first "5" beer..ever.It doesn't get any better than this, folks. 22 oz. brown bomber bottle, with some fairly strange graphics on the label. Strange, indeed. Poured out a deep orange color, with green highlights, probably due to the hops in it. Had a huge, billowing, white head at first. Then it settled down to a thick matting of lace floating on top of the beer. Aromas are out of this world. This is what brewers dream of making. Floral hops jump out of the glass at you, clutching you by the throat. Then, the piney, resinous, and grapefruit aromas assult your olfactory glands as well. This is one monster of a beer folks. The malts are strong enough to fend off the hops, but quickly give in, and are put asunder. The malts are sweet, caramel-ly, and lend a certain compliment to the overall experience of this beer. It coats the tongue with hoppy goodness, and warms the belly upon impact. A literal hop bomb explodes in your gut. Thick, chewy mouthfeel, and a sweet/bitter hoppy finish make for a great beer overall. My hat's off to the 3 Floyd's Brewing Co. for coming up with this very enjoyable beer. Keep up the good work guys.

Citrus hops, caramel malt nose with alcohol notes. A FREAKIN’ DELECTIBLE TREAT. My first rating in six months. THis beer made me want to rate beers again.

Wow! I think this is the best Imperial IPA ever! Great pour with a frothy white head. Cloudy amber/orange color with a very strong hoppy, flora aroma. Strong hop presence with a spice to the flavor and wheat maybe??? Pretty smooth. Reminds me of a Harvest Ale. Definitely the #1 Imperial IPA!!!

my 300th review had to be something special. I couldn’t have made a better choice.Impossible to find in Wisconsin, it was stumbled upon in Chicago. 10 bucks for a 22er, but with the rave reviews it had gotten, why not? WOW, the most powerfulfull blast hop aroma I have ever experienced, short of sticking my nose into a bag of hops. Lots of malt in the taste to counterbalance these hops, not quite as much as Dogfishhead 120,leading to a full rich hopaccented taste. That wonderful aroma was there the entire glass, like your drinking it in a hop field. For a hophead like me, it was the most pleasant drinking experience I’ve had in years. Lucky I bought 2 bottles. I’m deeply saddened at the same time that this is so inaccesible to me. I believe this is only my third perfect score.I would like to know how long this stuff keeps, so next time I can score I can buy a trailerload to store.

This beer is huge. It is the Holy Grail of all beers, not just IPA's. I'd drink it constantly if A) I could find it; and B) I wouldn't mind stumbling around like a homeless man for the rest of my life.

All I can say is WOW. I’ve been waiting to try this beer for a long time now. Finally it is a few inches from my lips. Immediately a huge bold citrusy and fruity smell hits my nose. This beer’s aroma is HUGE! Flavor follows the aroma perfectly big and citrusy, very bitter but a very SMOOTH bitterness that lingers on and on. Alcohol is completely hidden. I’ve only rated a few other beers as perfect 5’s, after tasting this beer I’m going to have to go back and reduce all those other ratings. This puts all other beers to shame. Best beer ever.

Aroma is incredibly floral with hops all over. The taste begins with a bang of hoppiness but is immediately balanced by sweetness. The finish has slight notes of alcohol but still persistent hops and light malty sweetness. The mouthfeel is slightly chewy, very silky smooth. The drinkability is incredible but dangerous considering the ABV%. **The more I have this, the more I realize that this is the perfect IPA, it has it all, and I've yet to have anything that rivals this beauty. I can't get enough.
