Thanks to malachi for sharing this with hezron and I. It was a great way to cap off the night. It assualts the nose with hops when you first sniff, but once you adjust, there is a nice combination of tulips, oranges and lemons waiting underneath. Strong, good looking lacing comes from this as you swirl. Suprisingly, when you take a sip the hops are well balanced. I was expecting an attack of bitterness but instead there is a collection of tropical flavors - persimmon, passion fruit, kiwi and grapefruit. Eventually after a short impression of sweetness, the bitterness becomes evident but not in an overpowering way. Finally, it takes on a sweet vanilla finish before disappearing. For a beer this big, it was suprisingly easy to drink. If it were a few dollars less a bottle it might become a regular fixture, but at $10.99 I’ll still be enjoying it occasionally.

This is the end all be all of imperial ipa’s in my book! This beer eluded me for quite some time. I even drove 5 1/2 hours to the brewery to buy some of it, and when I got there they said they were bottling it the very next day (I was on a business trip of sorts so I couldnt stay to wait). But after such disheartening news, the bartender told me they had it on tap. So I got to try it for the first time ever on tap...and it was GREAT! As soon as I arrived back home from my trip I placed an order to buy a case of the dreadnaught, and the day it showed up on my porch was like a kid in a candy store. Sorry to fall off track but... The aroma and taste are both jam packed with floral notes, grapefruits, apricots, and even mangos. This stuff was phenomenal!

Bottle: Hazy orange color with lots of foamy, white head. Nice lacing throughout the glass. Aroma is packed with floral hops, citrus, and sweet malt. Even some grass. Taste is thick, syruplike with lots of citrus, floral hops, slight fruitiness, and sweet malt to balance. Tail is deliciously dry, bitter, and tart. My first brew from FFF - Awesome IIPA. This was as good as advertised, and one of the more complex beers I’ve had. Started out pouring from the bottle to a bright orange-red, with thick off-white head that stayed around for the entire glass, and excellent lacing. Initial aroma was strongly hoppy citrus, mainly grapefruit and oranges. However, as the beer warmed, the aroma became more influenced by a malty sweet aroma. Likewise, the flavor, which started out heavily on the bitter, hoppy citrus side, while retaining that throughout, became nicely blended with a malty sweet syrupy taste. Alcohol also made itself more known as the beer warmed, perfectly complementing the hops and malts. Finally, the finish was lterally a bittersweet blend of hops and malts, with an overall warming sensation from the 9.5% abv.

There really is a mango/peach aroma but I had to search for it behind the intense pine. Pours red/orange with no real head to speak of. Flavor is intense pine followed by the sweet afformentioned fruit. Super unique. I get pine, not citrus. This shit is good. Pretty balanced too. Very dry. Resin coats your mouth after every sip. Damn good beer.

As I’ve mentioned in other reviews, I am not a hop-head. A double/Imperial IPA can not be just a hop bomb that is unbalanced and just hoppy for the sake of being really hoppy. But this gem of an double/imperial IPA is a true gem. Just a fabulous beer overall, as it has the strong citrus aromas of the hops, but is balanced with a delicious sweetness in the malt. Beautiful copper color on pour. I would go out of my way to get this beer, as it’s not available in my area. Loved it. The guys at Three Floyd’s are awesome.

I might have had my expectations to high, but it was a tremendously enjoyable brew. Very fruity. Quite refreshing actually. It wasn’t the blow out that I expected. --After thinking about this one for awhile it occured to me how superior this really is. My other favorite selections just didn’t stack up to this briallant gem.

22oz bottle. A nice cloudy amber color pour with a thick white fluffy head that hangs around a while,lots of nice lacing left all the way down the glass. Aroma of hops,resin, high alpha hops such as citrus, peach, melon,and pine,with some sweet malty notes coming through.Flavor is awesome very fat and hoppy,you can feel the bitterness in your cheeks,piny,fruity hops and a nice sweet caramel,toffee malt backbone to balance things out. Very smooth mouthfeel,a little sticky. Nice bitter hop finish and just slightly boozy. Top shelf stuff for sure, one of my new favorites.
