Binny’s Orland
As soon as I popped this open I could immediately smell grapefruit. Poured into a snifter a hazy orange/amber. Big bright orange highlights when held to the light. With a big creamy head on top that lasts. Moderate sticky lacing throughout the entire glass.
The smell is unbelievable. It’s loaded with big juicy citrus hops. Sugared grapefruit along with a sprinkling of orange juice that smells like it was freshly squeezed. There is tropical fruit as well. Mango...all kinds of deliciousness. There is a touch of pine in the nose too. I sit here smelling this and my mouth just waters uncontrollably. Exceptional!
I almost expected to be let down when I drank this because of all the high praise. I’m not let down one bit and I now understand why this is praised as much as it is. There’s a ton of the citrus in the taste that’s in the aroma. As I drink this my mouth actually waters after the swallow. A smooth bitterness but by no means overwhelming. Amazing!
I find it difficult giving such praise but I try and find faults in Dreadnaught but have a very hard time doing so. It’s medium bodied but coating. Balanced. The alcohol is non-existent in the mouthfeel. Unbelievable!
The drinkability for a beer of this size is downright sick. This my sound cliche but Dreadnaught is very dangerously drinkable. Every sip makes your mouth need another immediately afterwards. Dangerous!
I hate giving such high scores cause it would mean this beer is almost impossible to improve upon. To tell you the truth it would be almost impossible to improve on. I can’t picture a IIPA being any better than this. I haven’t tried them all but I’ve had quite a few and this is at the top of the list. Wow!

I live in soCal, so it’s nowhere to be found. Fruity, hearty and wonderful. Maybe a bit too sweet, but it’s a very, very minor complaint. Found it while with my girlfriend outside her folks’ place near Chicago. I had it to celebrate the Patriots going 16-0, and it did NOT disappoint. I have one more bomber left, and will drink it when the Pats (hopefully) go 19-0. Cheers! And someone tell these guys to broaden their distribution. All of their stuff is dynamite. Pours a hazy orange color with a sold white head and a gorgeous lace. The aroma is strong and piney at first followed by orange and sweet melon with some mild floral notes. The flavor is wonderfully complex, very bitter and hoppy. Instantly fruity with notes of melon and mango with some good citrus and pine notes. This is wildly balanced with a big malty sweetness that in no way detracts from the big hop flavor but seems to work as a backdrop really allowing the hops to showcase their flavor all the while providing a pleasant balance for their bitterness. The mouth feel is big with a nice sharpness mid palate. Try this beer by any means necessary.

Aroma of grapefruits and maybe some lime and cotton candy. Lively carbonation and great citrus bitterness from the hops and very well balanced with the malt. Maybe a little more malt than hops is there, but the bitterness lingers longer than the sweetness. I enjoyed this one a lot and would never turn another one down. illidurit (896), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 26, 2008 This beer falls a hazy pale orange into my snifter, topped with a nice 3 finger head. Incredible lacing and good retention.
Sweet grapefruit, pine sap, biscuity malt, some sweeter citruses like tangerine and orange on the nose.
Hops obviously control the show here, but the range of hop flavors keeps it from being overly one-dimensional. Obviously grapefruit has a strong presence, as well as orange, citrus zest, and maybe even peach. A decent amount of malt futilely fights the whirlwind of hops.
The carbonation really is perfect. I can’t imagine a more finely carbonated IPA. I spent about as much time swirling the beer around the glass and watching the cascades of lacing form and dissolve as I did drinking! Mesmerizing stuff. Great brew. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA

Slightly pine and citrus aroma that just got better with time. Sweet malt backbone complimented the hop bitterness. It was a DIPA that drank link an IPA. When can I get some more?
