Sharp American hop taste from the begining to the lingering finish yet is balanced by some malts, somewhat sweet at times. A full bodied huge beer with the alcohol well hidden. ante (2942), Stockholm, Sweden

Big, thick longlasting white head. Heck, what an aroma... Piney, citrousy, sparkling hops. And of course, grapefruit... I am just stunned by this aroma... Taste is just like a hop liquidid and/or light spirit. Very grapefruity and floral flavour. I can barely taste the alcohol. But it is evident in the belly. World-class, of course. This new double IPA style really had a huge impress on me. Sooo. thanks ciderguy for this truly marvelous beer!! I've had this three different ways: on tap at a beer fest, on a hand pull at a great beer bar, and finally in 650 mL bottles tonight. Great balance with sweet malty undertones. Strong citrus hop as well, but not too bad. Sometimes a little sweeter for an Imperial IPA than I might like (especially on hand pull) but still very above average. I guess there is more than corn in Indiana. Thanks Three Floyds!!! jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 14, 2006 Updated: Feb 17, 2007Rerate 22oz bomber, no date. Pours a crystal orange with a one finger light beige head, slowly fading to a creamy film.Aroma of apricot, pineapple, citrus, and lastly some resinous pine. When this is fresh--holy crap! With most beers, after the head dies down, the aroma does too. Not with this one--it’s almost as strong two hours after pouring (yes, it took me two hours to drink this--I was watching a movie). I am now going to give my first 10 for aroma. However, there is some sweet light caramelish malt somewhere in the background, and doesn’t seem (as far as aroma goes) that it’s going to be terribly bitter and nasty. Flavor is quite resiny with more pine than the aroma led on. Otherwise, the same. The bitterness doesn’t come on strong until the finish at the back of the tongue, where it gets around 6-7 out of ten, and does linger for a while. Dry finish. Full bodied, low carbonation with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Still love this one, and I don’t think the rating changed at all. Old rating follows. 22oz bomber, no date--as usual from the guys @ 3F. Pours a clear orange amber with small to moderate sized off-white h Aroma of big resinous pine and grapefruit hops with some underlying caramel malts. Smells like an amped up Alpha King with buttloads more resiny hops. Fairly high bitterness throughout, with some sweet caramel malts in there, some alcohol noted, though fairly well hidden. I keep wanting a toothpick to pick out the hops, but there aren’t any. Light carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, long lingering bitterness. Pretty damn good, though I think 3F’s is a little bit pricey with this one. 9-4-9-4-18--4.4 timtheenchanta (70), Clemson, South Carolina, USA

Aroma is almost all leafy hops... hints of cannabis leaves. There’s a sweet side to it which is citrusy. The bitter rules out the sweet so it’s almost definitely the ridiculous amount of hops in this (I’m not surprised... just stating...).
Big leafy taste. Sweet citrus. Very very bitter. Save me. The bitterness in this rocks me pretty hard. I’m not much of a hop head but I can definitely appreciate this great brew.
Great smooth feel. Nice dry very bitter palate that hangs around for a ridiculously long time. After a while I decided I’d had enough of the finish and drank some water and there were still faint hints of it. Wonderful. chimney (9), cleveland, Ohio, USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 27, 2006 poured a wonder hazy bright golden orange color with an awsome frothy orange-ish head. about a third of the way through the beer the body did clear up to a nice crisp clear golden orange. the aroma was amazing because the first thing i smelt was a citris orange with a moderate hoppyness. when i did finaly taste it the flavor started with a light acidic flavor with a moderate bitterness (much less bitterness than i expected). it then moved on to a heavy acidic flavor with a STRONG grapefruit flavor tartness and tang. on the palate it was a light body with a watery texture and a soft refreshing carbonation. over all it was a completely shocking beer because i was expecting your normal extremely bitter ipa with no additional flavor. but the strong grapefruit flavor with less bitterness than i was expecting was a nice suprising change. if this beer wasn’t quite as expensive i would have it quite often.
