Commercial Description:
A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

The best Double IPA PERIOD!!! Pours a very faint yellow with a very tiny head. Aroma of extreme hops and earthly tones. The flavor rushes in with some of the best hops I have ever tasted.

Let’s see what we have here. Nice strong citrus and pine upfront on the nose. Very balanced though I must say. I have to say I like this a tad more then Pliny, such a close call though. It has a bit more pine, hops and body with the Dreadnaught. Beyond wonderful, sweet hop aftertaste. Get this one if you can!

22 oz courtesy of Adrian. Smells of hops, pine, mango, peaches and citrusy grapefruit. Amazing aroma! Pours a goregous golden orange colour with a medium sized white head that leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Tastes of pine, hops, malt and fruit. Has a bitter initial taste followed by the taste of sweet fruit. Lightly carbonated. Excellent beer, though Adrian says as good as it is, it used to be better.

This is a spectacular brew. I also speak for 3 people here so let it commence: The brew’s smell was that of grapefruit and hops. The flavour is bitter but not astringent. More of the grapefruit is present than other citrus hints....I am in tuned to grapefruit as it is one of my fav. citruses. There is a bit of tartness but not bitter and follows to a clean finish begging for aother sip. The head is white and semi-thick (translucent) and pours a gorgeous golden-orange. The inital taste is that of bitterness then finishes cleanly with a bit of palate coating citrus. In my eyes a good finish. My brother’s analysis of this was a bitter aroma in which he could smell the hops with a flavor of grapefruit but not overwhelming. One he said he would not go out and order specifically but definately drink if the bar was open so to speak. My sister-in law said the aroma was that of peaches....where my brother and I wer like "okay where did that come from?" It did not fit a girl’s taste as much as ours. This is a near perfect beer yet again raising my hopes for DarkLord day. If you want a palate clenser or complexifier try drinking a bit of 100% ruby red grapefruit juice with it. It WILL change the flavor dramatically. I know because I am on number 2 and wanted to experiment. This is not the most extreme brew I have been able to drink ABV% wise but overall a fine brew. $10 per 22oz will however keep me from buying mass quantities.----Overall concensentuious is a drinkable brew in which my brother could actually finish...as could I. Thank you FFF for an amazing experience and a memorable one at that. Simply superb and fitting in the top 15 brews from around the world. My sis’s olfactory is the only X factor therefore not allowing this to be a perfect 5.....for which I am sorry. Otherwise it is perfect!!!!

22 oz bottle purchased at From the Vine. Golden amber in color. Nice off whie head. The aroma was intense. Hops, citrus, floral. The taste was just as intense. Hops, citrus, some carmel. Lingering bitterness. If there is a better IPA out there I would love to get my hands on it. This was everything it was cracked up to be.

This is by far the best IPA on the market. The hops are balanced perfectly with the malts to create an amazingly smooth finish. For a beer that pushes 9.5% with 100 IBU’s, this is an amazing brew!

Super nose of pine chased by sweet citrus. Hazy amber. Definate malted nut taste nut covered up by the hops. This is such a good IPA
