thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Feb 23, 2003 Updated: Dec 15, 2003 Hotstuff and I went on a tour of their brewery. For $5 you get a 12oz glass of 3 of their beers. I thought this beer was not one of their better beers. The aroma was nice enough but its taste had an overpowering after bite that I did not like. The head was almost non existent. The color was very amber brown. Hotstuff gave it a 2 rating.
bassbuckeye (75), Ohio, USA Nov 30, 2008 Thick amper opeque poor small head. Pine and citrus to the nose. This is a balanced double IPA very nice sweet with bitter hop finish. Has a grapefruit taste to it as well. I like it but its not my fav double believe it or not. teamrassas (9), USA does not count Nov 29, 2008 Super nose of pine chased by sweet citrus. Hazy amber. Definate malted nut taste nut covered up by the hops. This is such a good IPA DSG (997), Yuvalim, Israel Nov 28, 2008 (10/16/08) Bottle at friends’ house in Philadelphia. Slightly hazy amber color with a medium beige head. Aroma full of hops, citrus, some piney notes and some balancing caramel and biscuits. Sweet flavor with quite a bit of malt, caramel, some biscuit notes, a bit of honey and some nutty notes. Continues bitter and hoppy with nice grapefruit and lemon notes but the malty background is always apparent. Medium to full-bodied. Very good and quite balanced. BREWMUSKCLES (817), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Nov 27, 2008 fine balance is what first strikes me about this fine brew. then a refined and subtle straw and malt backbone that supports a strong yet mellow hop character that for my money holds absolutely zero harshness within it. fruity yet hardly sweet it still seems a bit syrupy but in fact it is more a hearty body and an interesting fruit character that you experience. alcohol is well hidden here. this offering is an education in fine alemaking. ilherps (93), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Nov 21, 2008 As soon as the beer is poured, aromas of citrus and piney hops come out and flood your senses. The smell reminds me of a walk through a pine stand on a rainy spring day. Grapefruit and orange come forward on the nose as well. The taste is huge, first it hits you with hoppy grapefruit, with a nice dry finish. The beer is also balanced a bit with some nice malt flavors like a bit of chocolate and caramel.
