The carbonation helps to maintain the head for some time. It has a great floral hop aroma similar to other FFF beers. There is a perfumy floral taste that pervails but doesn’t dominate. Also some citrus hops are present and a bit of sweetness. This is a great tasting beer and tastes more like an IPA than a wheat, but I like it just the same. wrburgess (2), CHICAGO, Illinois, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 26, 2008 Normally I’m not a fan of grapefruit, but the zinger on the tail end of the taste is a nice change of pace. gax33 (11), Minooka, Illinois, USA

I’m not a big fan of any pine-taste in my beer and this one had a subtle pine flavor. Also, more carbonation than I’d prefer. Some sweetness mixed with some bitterness. Overall, it’s a slightly above average experience but with so many people raving about Gumballhead - I was disappointed. taalhiker (179), Dayton, Ohio, USA

Big start to this ale but finishes thinner than expected considering the maker. Lighter hoppiness than other FFF but a good end-of-summer beer. Dastrn (115), Warsaw, Indiana, USA

Nose was honeysuckle and yeast.
Taste was rather mild, with malts up front, some lemony hops in the middle, and almost no back end whatsoever. The mouthfeel was very watery and thin.
Not very complex, but extremely drinkable. I’d share with lagerheads anytime! BrotherGrendel (580), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 13, 2008 Appearance is a super clear yellow-light orange hue, head is two fingers of loose foam that sustains, light lacing.
Smell is subtle for this style, but I could pick out moderate yeast and bananas, some other light fruit and spices.
Taste is initially dominated by biscuit pale malts leading to lemon citrus hops, some bubblegum sweetness and syrupy fruits, finishes bitter and drying.
Mouthfeel is light-bodied, watery and thin texture, very high carbonation is almost distracting.
Drinkability is compromised by the overly high carbonation and bitterness, otherwise this is decent example of APWA (not too many of these in SoCal) that has good balance, low alcohol presence, but lacking in complexity. Frauditor (148), Hagerstown, Maryland, USA

Aroma is nicely balanced of wheat, hops, lemon and citrus. Flavor is hops and then the lemon and citrus flavors come in. Probably the best wheat beer out there. Palate has a nice sour bitter (very light). Perfect for a wheat ale.
