CaptBier (301), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Jun 11, 2008 Bottle. A hazy orange beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet hoppy with a light touch of wheat, while the wheat has a stronger presence in the flavor on a sweet malty back ground, and still with a distinct hoppyness. OK, but nothing spectacular - I’m not that fond of the strong hoppyness combined with the wheat.
joekinty (263), rockledge, Florida, USA Jun 8, 2008 thanks ronsup golden pour with a nice lasting head very hoppy citrusy hops citrusy hoppy no bubblegum present but a very interesting brew nefarious (202), Clarkston, Michigan, USA Jun 4, 2008 12oz. bottle from bdigi66....thanks Robert! golden/slight orange pour and a wonderful aroma of citrus and grapefruits....almost an IPA aroma! Extremely light beer! Slight citrus and hops flavor much better than any wheat beer out there! Wonderful session beer. This being my first experience with FFF’s and I am so excited to try the rest of the lineup!!!!!!! Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 29, 2008 In short: A smooth but crisp hoppy thirst-quencher.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear golden body with a small white head
In long: A crisp beer with crisp caramel and dried honey. Some floral notes. Rather hoppy with what feels like a mix of citrusy american hops and English hops (although I’d be surprised if any English hops were used). Very nice session beer. There were some light lemony notes but overall this is not the light summer ale I got used to with Wheat Ales. Thicker and more nourishing than just about any Wheat Ales I’ve had before. Another excellent Three Floyds product, although saying excellent Three Floyds product is about as redundant as AOL for Dummies. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA May 28, 2008 Updated: Jun 2, 2008really good summer beer nicely hopped and quenchingly good! appropriate carbonation. good palate. nicely balanced. fruity sweetness... OFlan (14), USA May 28, 2008 Perfect score from me. This has become my favorite American beer, and what’s funny is I usually dislike American wheats with a passion. These guys do it right though. Wonderful, crisp, dry, wheat beer.. super clean, then this MASSIVE amarillo hops aroma and flavor dominates. It’s like a wheat IPA almost. It’s amazing and I highly recommend it to ANY beer drinker. kkearn (993), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 27, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours yellow gold, capped with a big off-white head that slowly diminishes. Wheaty aroma at first, which is soon overpowered by earthy, citric hops. Wheat, grain, and salt flavors are complimented by Amarillo hops, which take over for the long finish. Definitely stands out in the crowd. Skyview (3972), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 26, 2008 Cool! I got a glass of this just before I got into the Three Floyds building to get my six bottles of Dark Lord. From a 22-oz bottle pours a hazy dirty golden brew with a thick white head that has some good retention and some spotty lacing. Aroma of light bread malt, citrus and flowery hops, a touch of lemon and some green vegetables. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of light white bread malt, some citrus zest and a touch of pine. Finish is semi-sweet with a mild bitterness that sticks around after the finish.
