Commercial Description:
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Check out Skingraft Comics and Records at <a href=http://www.skingraftrecords.com>SkingraftRecords.com. Cheers!

Thanks to my Secret Santa (pantanap) for this bottle. Pours a nice rich, golden straw color with a huge white head and nice lacing. Nose is floral hops, pine and some citrus as well. Flavor is just like the nose with some of that wheat beer flavor. Very nice and refreshing.

Review from 2006. Pours a very nice golden color with a nice pillowy head that leaves a wonderful lacing on the glass, clearer than most wheat style beers. Smell is hoppy, opens with a floral bouquet and finishes with citrus smells (orange, lemon) and even has some pine in there as well. Taste is glorious, I swear I tasted some banana and bubblegum before the hops takeover mid-drink and hit you with a refreshing citrus burst. Light to medium bodied with a medium carbonation, it really could not be improved on for the style. Drinkability, umm, yeah I could have this wherever, whenever and plenty of it. Additional information: My bottle was refridgerated since its summer release, and is still this good now, that’s just crazy, I was afraid to buy it at first because of how long it was sitting there, but I’m so glad I did.

Pours out a hazy yellow color with good amount of white head that fades quickly. Aroma is intensely lemony along with citrus hop notes. The taste models the aroma to a key with some notes of coriander. Carbonation is a little light for my liking. Palate is a little bit astringent for my liking. Also has a light soapiness in the end. Not bad.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a diminishing frothy head. Aroma is wheat, and citrus fruits like lemons and grapefruit. Taste is bitter up front with some citrus throughout, and finishes kind of soapy. A great Wheat Ale in terms of drinkability.

Pours a cloudy yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is alive with citrus. grapefruit, lemon, and orange take up most of the flavor, but some nice hops and wheat tones come through. Finishes so quick you take another drink, and another, and another. I always keep a few of these around to drink after I have a few impy anythings, these things are like a battery for your taste buds.

12oz bottle from unclejedi. Orange juice looking pour with a 2 finger thick, pillowy white head. HUGE grapefruit aroma, smells like a fleshy, perfectly ripe ruby red grapefruit. Haven’t encountered grapefruit to that degree in any other beer thus far. Also pick up hints of pineapple, sweet citrus candy and wheat, with a huge hop backing. The grapefruit is toned down quite a bit in the flavor, but still present, along with more sweet citrus and wheat, and tons of hops. Thin to medium bodied, nicely carbonated and feels perfect for the style as you drink it. Heavily astringent, but doesn’t detract at all from the experience. Finish is medium in length, citrus and sugars followed by bittering hops. The aroma is just enormous and phenomenal, and the flavor lives up to that billing. Surpasses Oberon as my favorite American Wheat. This would never leave my stash if it was available fresh in Florida. Outstanding!

Bottle from Binny’s (Orland Park, IL). Poured from 12 oz bottle into a conical pint glass. Pours a nice lively yet hazy golden color. Small head that manages to stick around and laces fairly well. Aroma of hops, citrus, and some wheaty notes. Taste is wonderful. Hops and citrus with the wheat beer finish I truly enjoy. Hoppy cerealesque finish. Wheat and a lemony aftertaste that is a little candy-ish and sticks to the palate and is reminiscent of about 15-30 minutes after you’ve eaten some Lemonhead candies. A hoppy assertive wheat beer that is wonderfully done.
