chicagodri (1021), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 14, 2007 One of the best smelling summer wheats around due to the amount of hops. Unique. A great wheat, one of my favorite. The beer is very pale. I seem to remember this beer having more of a knockout flavor, but it is still solid. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Nov 14, 2007 10-17-07 bottle. Semi-transparent deep golden color with thick foamy head. Amazing candy-coated hops aroma. Peaches and cream dominate the flavor. Finish is clean and smooth with ideal carbonation. I highly recommend this beer to anyone! Great palate - smooth, yet clean and crisp - lively yet not over the top. All around, a fantastic beer! pojo41 (315), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Nov 12, 2007 Bottle. Poured a hazy yellow with a huge white, fluffy head. Immediately on opening the bottle you get the citrus aroma of the hops. On pouring in the glass the hop smell is even more evident and enticing. Flavor is of smooth wheat flavor with a tremendous hop presence which gives it a bit of citrus flavor. I love German wheat beers but, this is the best Ameircan version I have had so far. Many thanks to my brother biggmike for this one. valpoaj (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA Nov 6, 2007 Updated: Nov 1, 2008Thanks to Pantanap for the bottle. Fluffy head...typical wheat body. Very pleasant aroma...has strong grapefruit scents but also a lot of other fruits, including orange and lemon...very nice work of the amarillo hops! Nice flavor up front...hoppy, citrusy and bready, then mellows out into a mostly-lemon flavor, and actually has a somewhat watery finish on the palate. Flavor lingers long for a wheat. I’m not one that has completely bought into the FFF craze so far, but this was a very enjoyable variation of a wheat, which is nice to see today!
Update 10/31/08: On tap in NW Indiana...this is a very clean beer on tap, the amarillo hops are truly allowed to shine in this beer...lemon and orange flavors very well defined and the oscillation between strong citrus and sharp bitterness is wonderful...notching this one up slightly from previous rating ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Nov 6, 2007 I was very nonplussed by this. I was expecting a slam-down version of my favorite style and received a very hollow, watery version of Sunshine Wheat. I am still rating it partly on what I was hoping for, and partly because I am convinced I missed something. kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Nov 5, 2007 Pours cloudy gold with a white soapy head. Aroma is predominantly hops with notes of leaves, pine, and lemony sweet candy (Amarillo). Softly bitter yet nicely citric as well. Small to medium bodied. If more wheat ales tasted like this I would probably buy a lot more wheat ales! alcrist (3), Silver Lake, Indiana, USA does not count Oct 29, 2007 A beautiful beer with a long lasting 2" head w/ great lacing. Nice moderate hoppy flavor w/ a fairly strong citrus finish. Dry on the palate and the flavor is pretty long-lived. Another excellent beer from The Floyds of Munster! stimguy (13), Lake St Louis, Missouri, USA Oct 27, 2007 I had this beer from my beer meister at home. This was my first beer from the Three Floyds Brewing Company. It was very good with a citrus finsh almost like grapefruit. I have not had this for a while but I hope to be able to grab a 1/4 barrel next summer. A great wheat ale
