lampeno420 (321), Zeeland, Michigan, USA Aug 9, 2007 i LOVE the flavor this beer presents. kind of attacks the sides of my tongue with flavor. although, the bottle leaves a slight aftertaste that the tap does not. but to take home any enjoy, its completely worth it. mvcramer (229), Arlington, Massachusetts, USA Aug 5, 2007 Thanks to Mike for getting this to MA for me from WI. Strong aroma of those amarillo hops. Not what I would normally expect from a wheat beer, but it was pleasantly potent. Pours a nice orange-copper color with a thin off-white head. Minor lacing. I found the flavor to be overly hopped - no sweetness from the malt to balance out the beer. An interesting offering, but not one that I would go out of my way to try again. GaltScat (195), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Aug 4, 2007 Pours a moderately deep copper-orange with some light red tints, must be from the wheat. Good off-white head, mostly dissipating. Slight haze from the yeast injection, but quite filtered other than that. Aroma of light citrus, from the dominant amarillo hops. Light nectarine, tangerine and honey notes as well as a dry wheatiness. Flavor starts out with light grapefruit, sweet and succulent fresh hops, plenty of light malt sweetness. Great amount of hard red wheat flavor on the finish, with tons of grassy tones. The malt is tremendously well represented, creating a wonderful backbone to match the loads of Amarillo’s in here. Finish is wheat, grass and lightly bitter, mostly dry. Medium to medium-full body, with some thinning as it warms. biggcb (459), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 3, 2007 Draft (3F brewpub) Pours a clear golden color ith a nice white bubbly head. Aroma, as expected, is a bit hoppy - citrus, pine and a smattering of floral...with some caramel malt and yeast for good measure. Flavor is much the same, with the piney hops coming to the light a bit more. No real presence of wheat is either aroma or taste, but who really cares, it is still quite tasty and exceptionally easy to drink. envane (251), Evanston, Illinois, USA Aug 1, 2007 I can’t detect any wheat characteristic beneath the piney hops, so ultimately you end up with essentially an APA. Now, this being 3F, this is a damn good APA, a little bit lighter and refreshing than Alpha King. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Aug 1, 2007 Medium gold with an average sized white head. Good carbonation. Aroma is hops, pine, wheat, light spice. Reminds me of new carpet smell. Flavor is light bitter hops, sweet malt, pine, and mild floral. Pretty hoppy for a wheat beer but who cares. A nice summer brew. The finish is quite refreshing and bitter. wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Jul 27, 2007 I havent rated this!?!?! well then.....clear golden with a nice fluffy white head that settles into a thin film. lovely rounded jucy orange citrus aroma with a hint of rose like floral notes and caramel. sweet caramel bitter orange floral flavors. flavor a lot like an american pale ale but with a much softer malt presence.....i guess thats the wheat part. finish floral bitter with a nice bittersweet carmel backdrop. again the wheat is noticable. the wheat seems to soften the impact of the other flavors balancing things out. light to medium bodied. moderate to lively carbonation. well done. great wheat. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jul 23, 2007 Draft at The Map Room, Chicago. Pour is slightly hazy and much darker yellow than most American Wheats I have had. Nice white head. Aroma is a touch of wheat, but mostly pine hops. Taste has the hops jumping out at you initially, with big pine flavor. The middle was some nice wheat body, and the finish leads to resinous hops. Overall, an interesting brew, and very well made.
