LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 8, 2007 Holy crap! This is a wheat beer? Three Floyds has done it again. Aroma of hops and a little yeast. Pour was a cloudy light orange with a small one finger white head.Taste was like an American pale ale. Hoppy and malt in the aftertase. As an American wheat (which is hard to agree with) is perfect. HopHeadinAZ (120), USA Jul 7, 2007 22 oz Bottle: Pours a cloudy golden color with almost two fingers of ivory head. After a few minutes the head is almost gone with a thin crown. Orange dominates the nose with a nice hop presence. Citrus and hops dominate the taste with a distinct grapefruit finish.Unusual and good at the same time. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA Jul 7, 2007 A very smooth wheat, thats well balanced. Not too dry or bitter, but it has a sweetness and even a nice hop presence (!). Probably the best wheat I’ve ever tried. markas101 (541), Fargo, North Dakota, USA Jul 5, 2007 65 cl bottle, Shelburne (imported from Munster). Lemony hop aroma, less carbonated than expected, bitter finish with a long burn. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 2, 2007 On draft at the Comet.
I do believe that I have found a new summertime favorite beer. A nice wheat with the patented Three Floyds twist. It poured a nice light golden color with a short lived small head. Smell is wheat, hops, and a hint of slight lemon. Taste is much the same, except with the presence of some well placed hops. Mouthfeel is smooth and refreshing, with just enough hop bitterness to it. A very crisp, well balanced beer. AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA Jun 30, 2007 Updated: Aug 1, 200716 oz draft, Bavarian Lodge Lisle, IL. I have been waiting a long time to try this one and it did not let me down. Surprisngly hoppy in the nose, Gumballhead comes off more as a pale ale than a wheat. Lots of grapefruit in the nose with caramel malts and just a hint of grain. Medium in body with a clean dry finish. A very good summer beer. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Jun 26, 2007 Bomber rating. Thanks El Gaucho for picking this up for me. Aroma of citrus, lemon, butterscotch, and caramel. Appearance is hazy gold with a tight thin white head. Taste is hoppy with an unexpected dry finish. Interesting wheat, one of the better ones out there. This is quite refreshing. Being that this was a highly rated American Wheat I thought it might take on hefeweizen characteristics, but it really doesn’t seem to have the banana clove flavor that those have. BeerVirgin72 (778), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Jun 24, 2007 Had on tap at Barley’s Ale House (Guest Tap) Pale golden in color. Smelled overwhelmingly HOPPY. I was really expecting an IPA taste due to the smell. Taste was actually very light, wheaty, and citrusy with the IPA-like hop finish. I actually enjoyed this beer much more then I thought I would!
