DuffMan (2721), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada May 27, 2007 Shared with presario, Tipsy Mcstager, and ChineseHercules. Pours a slightly hazy deep gold, with a rapidly fading white cap. Fresh and faintly citrus aroma, lighter mouthfeel (but I just finished the Maharaja, so everyting is going to taste lighter), citrus-accented pale malt profile with a clean finish. I’d like to try this out of the shadow of the IIPA we just tried to see if more character becomes evident, but having said that, I still liked it. pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 26, 2007 Updated: Feb 6, 2009bomber......appearance: semi-translucent,hazy golden brown with medium white head.....aroma: floral and citrus hops. very much similar to an IPA. well almost....taste: sparkly with a predominant hop profile, wheat is discernable at best. agree with the bitter grassiness that its got goin.....average overall i would say... TipsyMcStager (900), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 26, 2007 Sparse aroma. Slight lemony. Pours a pale gold, thin white head. Nice round mouthfeel. Refreshing grassy finish. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA May 26, 2007 On tap at TFBC pub. A deep golden pour with a light goey white head. A lot of hops for a wheat that covers most everything else. A light fruitiness on the front that is quickly covered by the hops a light bannana like flavor comes back on the end with some grapefruity hops. Solid palate that has good carbonation for a wheat. Very very clean for a wheat excellent carbonation and fruit and hops flavor combo. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 25, 2007 Updated: Aug 4, 200722oz. 2007 release, very fresh. pours hazy golden w/ lemon hint with white head. nose has nice pnw hops, lemony. flavor is sort of infected! medicinal notes, soem cookie, loose hop presence. perhaps i got a bad bottle because i heard this years was solid. i’ll have to re-rate......................2007 12oz bottle release. wow this is very fresh and hoppy, more like a hoppy pale ale with some wheat malts than a wheat beer but whatever. sorta of a mellower alpha king. i could drink this all day. JLAudio (282), Crestwood, Illinois, USA May 19, 2007 Updated: Jul 29, 2007Another great brew by Three Floyds! Great summer drink! This beer is definitely a lot like a hoppy IPA, but is a wheat beer! Crazy mix, but the amarillo hops are amazing when paired with this red wheat. Lot less hazy and lighter than traditional wheat beers. Great wheat style if fan of HOPS. Excellent brew from FFF, especially since 6pack became available Ofortuna (322), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA May 16, 2007 Drank in line while at Dark Lord Day 2007. First beer of the day.....FINALLY and thanks to Sombeast for seeing my obvious thirst for some malty goodness. Slight lemony character and the presence of the house hop profile that is FFF. Which, I might add, am not a fan of. Fizzy, wheaty and citrus/lemony best describe this one. Good thirst quencher, but very average overall. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA May 10, 2007 Man this was awesome. An amazing lemon citrus aroma. It was almost like those sour gumballs that they made back in the day. Poured an almost clear golden orange color. The flavor was pretty hoppy with a nice touch of some sweet wheat. Very citrusy. Very unique for an american wheat beer. It was very thirst quenching. Somewhat resiny from all of the hops, but it was light and extremely drinkable. I really enjoyed this one even if it was an $11 bottle of beer. I will probably try to track this one down again.
