mtdshn (174), Moline, Illinois, USA Sep 2, 2006 650mL bomber. Poured a great honey golden brown with a minimal but lingering ring of a head. Not much in the way of aroma but there is some sweetness and maltiness. Very fragrant and flowery taste, similar to carnations. Nice full body, with some telltale hops giving it some good dryness. Has a very unique aftertaste, very herbally and flowery. Has some IPA qualities to it, and yep, some bubblegum. A great wheat beer. smhncabot (310), Cabot, Arkansas, USA Sep 1, 2006 clear pale goden. aroma citrus sweet hops. no wheat tones. flavor starts sweet citrus leading to wheat tang and finish lemon dry. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Aug 31, 2006 Bottle - first AW. Powerful citric hop aroma, light yeastiness. Lemony, sure, but not at all gumbally (only time you’ll ever hear that adjective). Pours a hazy, orange-accented golden with a creamy, lacing tan head. Very strong hoppy taste, citrus is there but overshadowed by a newfound bitterness. Wheat establishes itself, even comes across as assertive, but this still tastes much more like a pale ale than a wheat. Creamy feel, medium body. Strange to have such a hoppy nose on a wheat beer, and I’m not sure that I like hoppy bitterness paired with wheat ... but it’s interesting enough for me to buy another (clean and refreshing, after all). RollinHard (748), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Aug 30, 2006 My first Three Floyds beer, woohoo! Pours a nice golden color, slightly more amber than your usual Ameri-wheat (though clearer too). Head is pretty full at first, but dies down to a thin bubbly film. Like others have mentioned, this beer smells oddly hoppy for a wheat beer. The hops are definitely more lemon/limey than on some pale ales though. Taste yields a bit of malty wheat goodness, but the hops edge out the flavor. The beer doesn’t feel too thick but, then again, it’s not really supposed to. The aftertaste is very nice though. The hops merely provide flavor and dryness, without making your throat feel overly bitter. Nice and smooth. This is a very pleasing beer; mild yet purposeful. garmonbozia (225), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Aug 30, 2006 Updated: Feb 5, 2007Bomber: Pours a beautiful clear orange color with a small head. Smell of hops and citrus. Wow, what a taste. Taste of citrus, hops and grapefruit in this beer. it is bitter and sweet. I actually do taste lemon in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is kinda thin thought, but not enough to give it a bad rating. muenster (339), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA Aug 28, 2006 Bottle, picked it up at the brewpub. Pours clear shiny new penny/gold color, with a half-inch bubbly off white head. Aroma is strong citrusy floral hops, and grapefruit. Flavor is immediate grapefruit, followed by a nice hop kick, and a very mildly sweet finish. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Aug 24, 2006 Thanks to iowaherkeye for this one. Light amber, fairly large head, decent lacing. Aroma is very hoppy... mostly citrusy grapefruity hops. It doesn’t look or smell like any American Wheat I’ve had.. but ok? Some wheatyness in the finish... very slight. More like an APA with some tartness in the end. Yeah, it’s tasty... but dunno about the style here. OldRaspy (292), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Aug 18, 2006 Poured from a bomber amber in color with an off-white head. Aroma was citrus hops. Flavor was citrus hops with a lemon finish. A great offering from 3F’s
