Commercial Description:
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Check out Skingraft Comics and Records at <a href=http://www.skingraftrecords.com>SkingraftRecords.com. Cheers!

Yellow, bubbly, beer with a small-medium fluffy white head, but overall its just not the greatest looking beer. On the other hand, everything else about this beer is really very enjoyable (including the name, but I’m not going to give points for that)! Strong hoppyness in the aroma, wheaty, juicey, with sweet maltyness also. Flavour matches pretty well- it has both the strong hops and the malt, its a bit sweet (maybe more citrusy than the aroma), very slight lingering bitterness. This is a great wheat beer!

Pours a half shade darker than macro yellow with a mediocre head and lotsa bubbles streaming to the top. Worried? Well, a little bit. All I had to do to assuage my fears was put my nose over the glass. In one word, this aroma is juicy. Fantastic resinous tropical fruit peach scented hops. If only all IPAs were this bold! There’s a subtle light malty sweetness to fill out the aroma profile. Great mouthfeel for a wheat or any other beer for that matter. Creamy and smooth, foaming up on contact with the mouth. Though this is a great beer in the aroma, it falters slightly in the taste, though perhaps only because the aroma is so big. The same juicy hops immediately attack. You get that lovely grapefruit on the sides of the tongue taste from this beer, which I also enjoy. The light sweet malt balances the big hops with some wheaty bread-like notes taking over in short order. A lingering hoppy bitterness decays slowly in a very pleasant way. Though this lacks complexity, I still enjoy this beer. This is a wheat beer that defies convention. I’m really glad to see a wheat that doesn’t taste of banana/cloves or have some silly fruit flavor. Definitely my favorite wheat beer of all time.

We all have our favorites in life; and for me when it comes to beer it’s 3 Floyds. The offerings from these master brewers never fail to hit the spot. Gumballhead is no exception. Just writing this rating is making me thirsty. Nose of grapefruit & lime, I really couldn’t smell the wheat - just primarily citrus. Pours a hazy clover honey. The large white rocky & sticky head is very stiff, fully lasting and leaves behind great lace. The flavor is both very pleasant & very refreshing. Finally I taste a wheat offering with some balls. Good balance & depth, moderate acidity; the finish is mostly lemon citrus zing. The light body is soft and dry. These guys at 3 Floyds just don’t fuck around! They are so ahead of the curve.

Initial appearance honey orange. Very clear virtually no head. No lacing. Extreme citrus hops on first wif with taste the same. Definite grapefruit hints throughout. Thanks to TannerTavernboys for the sample.

Pours a hazy golden yellow. Aromas of bread, fruit, floral and citrus hops. Flavors of fruit, malt and some nice hints of hops.

(Bottle 65 cl) Slightly hazy golden with a small, creamy, white head. Fresh aroma of citrusy hops. Medium-bodied with some sweetish malt, but otherwise completely dominated by fresh aroma hops. Quite lovely, but in style far from your typical American Wheat - thankfully! 170406

Pour is fairly clear orangey golden color with a big bubbled long lasting skin of a white head...smell is citrus, pine, and rather sweet all at the same time...taste is strongly hoppy up front with some nice wheat and sweet flavors before the slightly bitter finish...this is damn good and very bizarre...far from what I expected...like an APAweizen of sorts...
