Commercial Description:
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Check out Skingraft Comics and Records at <a href=http://www.skingraftrecords.com>SkingraftRecords.com. Cheers!

22 ox bottle. Poured a mostly clear gold under a fluffy white head. Nice citrus hop aroma, some grassy character. Very clean and Pale Ale like with the grapefruit notes. Earthy wheat base with a crisp hop finish. Very soft on the palate, no sharp edges with this beer. I really like this, certainly not your average American Wheat! More of a wheat based Pale Ale. Finally an American Wheat to get excited about.

Amber Coloring With White Ring. Hoppy and Dry.. Pretty Sour ....Almost Stale Wheat Flavor.. A Bit Peppery.. Can’t Say I Found this one as Likeable as it was Made out to Be.

Golden color, nearly no head, flat carbonation. Sweet floral nose. Stale hops taste accomplished by lavender - not my sausage! ;-)

Slightly hazy yellow/gold body with a big fluffy white head and decent lacing. Starts with citrus and hop aromas, I tried and tried but didn’t smell any bubblegum - still this has a great aroma. Body is thin and full of a wheaty tang followed by a juicy citrus hop - oh yeah, it’s amarillo - I luv amarillo hops!

Bottle pours a slightly hazy golden color, medium rocky head, pancake batter lacing, and with virtually zero carbonation.   Aroma is quite hoppy, slightly lemony, with a hint of pine needles.   WTF, This is an American Wheat?!?!   Up front I get a slightly lemony tartness, along with hops.   That is quickly followed by a slightly biscuity/malty flavor, finishing with a floral flair.   This seems more of a quasi Pale Ale/American Wheat.   Decent body and mouthfeel, just didnt know what to make of this strange concoction.   Points off for not being really true to the style.   This really needs to be classed differently.   Other than that, its still quite enjoyable.   Thanks goes out to CaptainCougar for the trade!

This is both an excellent beer and a disappointment. With a name like Gumballhead, I was looking for huge esters, but instead I found a beer that proved to me that American hops don’t clash hopelessly with wheat beers after all. The color is a slightly hazy (not very cloudy at all) dark gold topped by a moderately sized white head. The aroma pits slight esters against a moderate fresh Amarillo aroma over fresh-baked bread. The flavor is a good amount of crisp wheatiness livened up with some grapefruit/juniper hops, making a very crisp, very refreshing brew. This is imminently drinkable. I could probably drink a dozen of them and fall over dead. It’d be interesting to see the same grain and hop recipe fermented on real Bavarian hefeweizen yeast instead of the yeast strain they used here.

This brew pours with a golden body topped by a thin white head with some lacing. The aroma is sweet yet bitter and hoppy with nice citrus notes and a little grass. Nice aroma...different for a wheat beer. The flavor is sweet and fruity with a little citrus, some grass and a little bitter hoppiness. Light to medium bodied and dry.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of cdumler. Thanks! Pours a light amber color with a small head. Average head retention and lacing. Clear. but with small white particles. Very nutty aroma, reminiscent of sunflower, with some fruity hop notes. Taste is also strongly suggestive of sunflower seeds with pecan, honey and subtle hop notes. Medium bodied.
