Commercial Description:
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Check out Skingraft Comics and Records at <a href=http://www.skingraftrecords.com>SkingraftRecords.com. Cheers!

An interesting approach to a wheat beer. Typical american wheat appearance: clear orange-amber in color. The aroma was hoppy and wheat-like. The flavor was hops first and almost an aftertaste level of strength for the wheat base. Mouthfeel was medium bodied and carbonated. Enjoyable and refreshing for the summer days.

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy gold color beer with a huge bubbly head with average retention. Aroma of citrusy hops is overpowering and I could not discern any wheat. Taste is also totally dominated by the hops and leave very little place for the wheat. Not bad overall, I just don’t see were the American wheat fits in because I could not detect any presence of wheat in this beer.

350 ml bottle mailorder from archerliquors. Clear golden yellow with a fizzy white head. Floral hoppy aroma. sweet malty taste with a fruity taste to the finish.

Pours a very lightly hazy golden-orange color. A frothy, snow white head settles slowly to a thin film, leaving random spots and patches of sticky lacing behind. The nose is delicate but hoppy, with notes of lemongrass, light orange and grapefruit providing a bright spark atop pale, toasted malts and cereal grains. The flavor is a perfect compliment, with those same citrus hops shining triumphantly alongside a light, toasted honey-wheat bread backdrop. Medium-bodied and smooth, drinking easy and finishing dry. Refreshing. I could drink this all day long by the pool. Great summertime beer.

<!-- i -->Draft, at The Map Room, Chicago.<!-- /I --><!-- br --> A departure from my favourite styles to enjoy the goodness that is ’Three Floyds’. Bubblegum, wheat esters lifted nicely from the glass. The day was shapping up well.. the tour continued.

22oz. 2007 release, very fresh. pours hazy golden w/ lemon hint with white head. nose has nice pnw hops, lemony. flavor is sort of infected! medicinal notes, soem cookie, loose hop presence. perhaps i got a bad bottle because i heard this years was solid. i’ll have to re-rate......................2007 12oz bottle release. wow this is very fresh and hoppy, more like a hoppy pale ale with some wheat malts than a wheat beer but whatever. sorta of a mellower alpha king. i could drink this all day.

Pour is fairly clear orangey golden color with a big bubbled long lasting skin of a white head...smell is citrus, pine, and rather sweet all at the same time...taste is strongly hoppy up front with some nice wheat and sweet flavors before the slightly bitter finish...this is damn good and very bizarre...far from what I expected...like an APAweizen of sorts...
