Lemony, sure, but not at all gumbally (only time you’ll ever hear that adjective). Pours a hazy, orange-accented golden with a creamy, lacing tan head. Very strong hoppy taste, citrus is there but overshadowed by a newfound bitterness. Wheat establishes itself, even comes across as assertive, but this still tastes much more like a pale ale than a wheat. Creamy feel, medium body. Strange to have such a hoppy nose on a wheat beer, and I’m not sure that I like hoppy bitterness paired with wheat ... but it’s interesting enough for me to buy another (clean and refreshing, after all). | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2008 Nice clear orange body with heavy carbonation. Faint white head that left a tiny ring after ten minutes. Sweet floral hop notes with not a hint o wheat. Hops and sweet malt flavors preceded a grainy finish. Silphium (2152), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 24, 2004 This is phenomenally hopped for a wheat beer, with pungent spicy, piney hops dominating the aroma and flavor. The wheat malt is tangy, cerealy, and a bit citrusy. Gumballhead is hard to compare to other American wheats considering its aroma and flavor profile is quite distinct. The body is clear straw-colored with thin off-white head (OK, so there is a similarity!). I like this beer but its genre-splitting nature requires I compare it to other pale ales as well as wheats, and this is a "middle-of-the-pack" offering. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

Still too hopped for the style, but a nice beer. (old rating starts here-->)On tap at the brewery (and admittedly in a plastic cup). Cloudy yellow with a bubbly head. Crisp hop nose and lots of hop bitterness in the flavor. Lots of grapefruit tastes. I thought it was thin and that the flavors didn’t really balance well. Interesting take on a summer wheat beer. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

I could see myself drinking more of this in the summer months especially with the low alcohol level. very drinkable. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA
