LOL. Seriously, they’ve shown you can make a wheat beer with character. Pale gold, lightly fizzy head. Lively aroma of resiny floral hops. Mild citrus component to the hops, a bread dough character lays in the background. Surprisingly full malt backbone for a wheat beer, roundly sweet, the bright floral hops also contribute to an impression of sweetness. A little pepper to the hops as they linger all over the palate. Smooth, very easy drinking. Medium bitter finish, clean. Lots of hops. I like amarillo! SSSteve (2086), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 17, 2006 Thanks to TannerTavernBoys for sharing this great beer. Very floral perfume hops on the aroma. Looks slightly hazy golden with a white head that lingers around. Flavor starts briefly with a nice wheat taste.... and that is the only thing that resembles a wheat beer in Gumballhead for me. The wheat is quickly swept to the side by floral hops with a hint of citrus. There is a nice soft carbonation that enhances the flavors. While there are lots of hops here it is soft on the palate and very easy drinking. I’m looking foward to having this one again. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2004 Golden yellow clear beer under a thick white head that gives off a bready aroma with just a touch of hops.
Light malt flavor with just enough hop bitterness towards the end to balance out some of the sweetness.
This misses a lot of the characteristics of a Wheat beer, but it would do well as a good Pale Ale.

Light body, given the sweetness of this beer.Sweet bread and fruit taste with a grapefruit finish. Wouldn’t it be great if there were more American Wheats like this, and the style wasn’t just a portal for transitions from the macros? patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 28, 2006 Updated: Feb 18, 200922 oz bottle - Pours clear and dark yellow with a 2 finger foamy head... it smells really hoppy with pine and citrus notes. The flavor is just plain bizarre for an American wheat beer. It’s very hoppy, closer to an IPA or an APA. The wheat malt sweetness is very much subdued. The body is a little too thin, but not bad. This beer has lots of good hops flavor, but not much else going on. It finishes dry. Kudos to 3 Floyds for their continued willigness to experiment with styles.
edit: I’ve been enjoying this one on draft at JK O’Donnell’s in Ft Wayne, very nice session brew Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 1, 2007 Hard to believe this is a wheat beer. If there were a category for "gumball" bres, this one would be signature. Lemon citrus sugar flavor somewhat reminiscent of gum from baseball card packs (but this one’s charm doesn’t quickly disappear). Very enjoyable and unique. A glowing body and summoning head makes this a must try beer for any explorer. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2006 Bottle: Golden pour with a nice white head, good lacing on the glass. Aroma is a little grassy, with some citrus and pine hop notes. I hate to say it but this bottle may have been a bit skunky, but not too bad. However I’ve had this one before. Flavor has a mild wheat malt start a little sweet and citrusy finish. Solid mouth feel, mellow carbonation for a nice smooth and drinkable beer. Refreshing as well.
