Commercial Description:
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Bottle. light hazy golden colour with a white head. Floral hoppy, malty aroma and a sweet malty, floral hoppy, citrus taste. Medium body with a sweet light dry finish. If I should rate this after style it would get 1,5 but it taste ok.

(22oz. bottle) Pours a clear copper body with an average off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pineapple. Flavor of juicy citrusy hops, lightly toasted malt, and caramel. More of an IPA than your typical American Wheat.

22oz bottle. Poured a medium and hazy golden color with an averaged sized head. Initial pour gave me a nice hoppy aroma (go figure, a FFF beer has hops). Aromas of pine, light grapefruit, with some wheat and citrus in the background. Tastes of wheat, citrus, with a lighter pine finish. Hops were stronger in the aroma than the taste (not a bad thing as the hops blended well giving it a nice sweet to bitter balance). As with this style, I find the body a little on the thin side.

22 oz bomber-pours a thick, rich offwhite head that laces and becomes rocky. Color is yellow-gold. Aroma is sweet grapefruit. Taste is sweet grapefruit, lemon, crisp, refreshing and in the background-the wheat peeks through. I would compare this to some beers that are $6-$9/6pk of 12 oz bottles, at $7 for what is just short of 2-12 oz bottles, it’s pricey. After writing this I read some other ratings, it was reassuring to see others comment on the overpricing.

Hazy golden body is topped by a light white head displaying slight lace. Strong Amarillo hops nose. A gentle biscuity feel coats the nostrils. The wheat is obvious and provides a refreshing character, but there’s not much else to me. I’m not sure how well the hops mix with the rest, it is very citrusy, mandarine/lemon profile and tart, definitely not my favourite balance, but that’s probably just my preference for less abrasive citrusy hops. It doesn’t feel too fresh as it is. At the same time, the palate is globally thin, though it has a slight creamy tinge. Moderately high thin-bubbled carbonation cleans the tongue nicely though. Nevertheless, I’d get bored of having this as my main summer quencher. Give me a burgerbrau helles anywhen over 3 of these.

Draft... RBSG2003... Not your father’s wheat beer. Dense as Hell! A clear, deep yellow brew. Mid-sized, creamy white head with good lacing. The nose is full of floral and evergreen hops. Very earthy with notes of oak and pepper. The flavor is bold and perfectly balanced. Nicely bitter with heavy, damp straw. Full-bodied with a syrupy/oily mouthfeel. Long, acrid, lightly bitter finish. Not my favorite style by a long shot, but a quality brew nonetheless!

On tap at 3Floyds: Amber orange in color with a full short-lived eggshell head. Big floral hoppy aroma, but what did you expect. Smooth moderately bitter body with a dry piney finish. Not like many American wheats I've had. It's a decent beer, but I couldn't taste any wheat in it, and yes I'd also have to say it's over-hopped. Reminds me too much of Alpha King. I was hoping for a little more variety of Three Floyds brews.

Bottle. Probably the best American wheat i’ve, which normally wouldn’t say much about the beer, but in this case the beer is actually pretty goood. Typically hoppy Three F’s, lots of lychee style fruityness, mixed with some subtle estery wheat characters. Quite aromatic throughout, and the flavour seems to burst onto your tongue. A little different, but quite interesting.
