Tastes of oranges, and has a bit of an IPA feel to it. Great mouthfeel. Perfect summer beer. MartinT (5055), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2005 Updated: Jun 9, 2005The Lure: Beautiful, perfumy grapefruity and piney hops converge atop the maple and caramel malt soil. Definitely not what you’d expect from a wheat beer, but is an American Wheat after all.
The Festivities: An assertive wheat bite surprises considering the hoppy proclivity of the aroma. Hops are subdued, and leave way to an earthy yeasty flavor which actually lifts the floral and lemony hop perfume. Not as bright as the aroma, but an agreeable summer pint.
Transcendence: The scent of a blooming garden always raises my spirits. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Aroma is loaded with mango, apricot, and other tropical fruits. Flavour is zesty and fruity with lots of fresh wheaty malts. Lemon and lemongrass flavour. Nice enough brew, but I wasn’t blown away. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA

Very nice spiced aroma of gummibears (sugar), rum, rye, ginger, and some soapy qualities, but not very strong or pungent. Very dry and acidic palate, soapy (oily) texture throughout the drink. Intensely sweet. Cornfield (4941), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA

I’ve had this year’s on tap at the brewery and from the bottle, and it’s definitely hoppier and thusly, tastier to this hop-head than it used to be. Ergo, I’m upping my rating from 5/4/6/4/13 to 7/4/8/4/17. So there!
9/8/2004A nice wheat, but I was concerned when I witnessed a lager-only buddy slamming these down from the tap at the Maple Tree. Then again, maybe he’s growing. It’s got a nice amber color and a full off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma with an underlying grassiness. Good taste with a nice dosage of spicy hops. Refreshing.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2004 Golden color with a cream colored voluminous head that does not go away. The first test glass, a small 3 oz vessel, still has an inch of foam at the bottom. Small cumulunimbus clouds lace. OK time to switch to the real deal wheat glass. Seem a touch darker in the Aventinus glsss, but the head is still looming tall. Wheat field abuts a pine tree forest for this aroma. Light grapefruit and juicy fruit flavors. I like it, but more an APW (american pale wheat). Thanks slikwily ala Bunkypop. BückDich (4848), McCall, Idaho, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2006 Bottle, at Kookfest, September 2006. To call this the best American Wheat I have ever tried is rather faint praise, since that is generally, in my experience, one of the most boring styles around. Its probably my favourite American Wheat because its not really remotely like all the others I have tried (which isn’t that many to be fair). More like an APA really. Juicy fruit and tangy, aromatic hops in equal measure. Maybe some estery notes. Nice.
