Commercial Description:
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Check out Skingraft Comics and Records at <a href=http://www.skingraftrecords.com>SkingraftRecords.com. Cheers!

Bottle that mreusch brought back form Chicago. I can see why this is the #1 rated American Wheat. It is hands-down the best I have ever tasted and by a large margin. Pours a hazy gold with a frothy, white head. The nose is of grassy hops, wheat and a faint citrus. Light-bodied and thin with moderate carbonation, it finishes lightly bitter--rare for an American Wheat. The flavor is a sweet wheat with solid grassy and citrus hops. This is, by far, the hoppiest wheat that I’ve ever sampled, but it is still quite well balanced. The Amarillos really dominate the character of this easy drinker, and it makes me wonder why more brewers haven’t tried to do something similar with a wheat. If they sold this in KC, it would be a summer staple in my fridge. Thanks a ton for sharing this one Matt!

Bottled sample via oakbluff. Gold in colour with fairly strong carbonation. Aromas of stale malted wheat and citric hops. Hop forward in the mouth, followed by more wheat malt and some coriander like citrus flavors. Some bitter length on the finish keeps the wheat in check. Pretty good overall, especially considering the style. This bottle might have been a bit past its prime too. Probably really nice when fresh and on a hot patio in the summer.

Medium golden yelllow, white head, aroma of hops, wheat, and citrus. Flavor is that of a pale ale, or a rye ale. odd, not what i expected, and not good. finish is bitter, hoppy. Not impressed

Bright gold with small white head. Big hoppy nose with a touch of grain. Flavor is hoppy with citrus that fades to a slight wheat/grain with a nice malt backdrop.

Pours a cloudy light yellow color with a frothy white head that condenses but refreshes itself throughout the entire drinking process. Laces the glass slightly. Smells nice and hoppy but mellow hoppy not bitter or aggressive. A little grassy but not overwhelming. Tastes of a well balanced but liberal dose of hops. Great beer to start on if your just getting into hops. Palate is a bit on the thick side for such a light colored brew. Insane carbonation at first but the carbonation fades at about half glass. Pretty awesome beer, I really dig it and will do my best to get more.

This one was a somewhat shocker/volatile brew. At first, I was unimpressed. The more I sucked on it, the more I liked it. The taste alternated between malts and hops, ultimately balancing itself out in the end. It was a deeper gold color, smelling quite citric and wheaty at the same time. Taste is actually very malty, compared to what I expected. I’m so glad that I live in Chicago and can get some 3F products easily. In all, I was very surprised that there was little/no wheatiness about it, compared to other wheats. Then again, this is an All-American brew we’re talking about. Excellent hop content to make it oh so refreshing!

Picked up from the brewery with Honkeybra. Crushed with Jakebra. Color of pee, nervous right away. Confused. Very hoppy, musty. Weird profile, but somehow pleasing. Strange, but yummy.
