Commercial Description:
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Check out Skingraft Comics and Records at <a href=http://www.skingraftrecords.com>SkingraftRecords.com. Cheers!

Pours a darker goldenrod color. Aroma of tropical/passion fruit (Papaya)! Flavor is spicy and hoppy, somewhat thin. Still getting fruit juice aromas and tastes. For the style, the most flavorful beer I’ve had. Refreshing and a great beer! Thanks to Psych Prof for this one!

The aroma of this is very close to Pride & Joy, I’d almost think I was smelling the same beer. A little more grassy and lemony than P&J, but boatloads of very similar hoppy goodness. On the first drink, this beer really zings the tastebuds. Real citrusy hops (lemon/grapefruit) upfront are a bit souring, with a slick mouthfeel. Not overpowering though, as the body smooths out and finishes clean. Ahhh, a great summertime beer.

Alrighty. I poured slowly to avoid the dregs and got a flat, golden pour with light head. Some seltzer in the aroma with a dose of perfume and tangerines. Nutty flavor balancesnicely with the citric nature of the amarillos, though not as juiced as other IPAs. Slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Delivers as a light and refrishing summertime quaffer. Thanks TAR.

12oz bottle. Pours yellow gold, capped with a big off-white head that slowly diminishes. Wheaty aroma at first, which is soon overpowered by earthy, citric hops. Wheat, grain, and salt flavors are complimented by Amarillo hops, which take over for the long finish. Definitely stands out in the crowd.

Pours a half shade darker than macro yellow with a mediocre head and lotsa bubbles streaming to the top. Worried? Well, a little bit. All I had to do to assuage my fears was put my nose over the glass. In one word, this aroma is juicy. Fantastic resinous tropical fruit peach scented hops. If only all IPAs were this bold! There’s a subtle light malty sweetness to fill out the aroma profile. Great mouthfeel for a wheat or any other beer for that matter. Creamy and smooth, foaming up on contact with the mouth. Though this is a great beer in the aroma, it falters slightly in the taste, though perhaps only because the aroma is so big. The same juicy hops immediately attack. You get that lovely grapefruit on the sides of the tongue taste from this beer, which I also enjoy. The light sweet malt balances the big hops with some wheaty bread-like notes taking over in short order. A lingering hoppy bitterness decays slowly in a very pleasant way. Though this lacks complexity, I still enjoy this beer. This is a wheat beer that defies convention. I’m really glad to see a wheat that doesn’t taste of banana/cloves or have some silly fruit flavor. Definitely my favorite wheat beer of all time.

Thanks to tannertavernboys for sharing. Pours a lite orange with a big bubbly head. Piney peachy aromas that just wreak of amarillo hops. This is the beer to experience if you want to know what this hop’s characteristics are. Really fluffy velvety body. Really does have a bubblegum like flavor (Yeast?) with some soft mango and papaya flavors too. Not really much bitternesss at the end considering how much flavor and aroma hops were present. Definitely the best american wheat barenone.
