This incarnation is stripped clean, filtered a bright High Life straw color with a thin white head that still manages to lace the glass. The aroma is classic 3F. Amarillo! Malt is barely discernable in the aroma, slightly more so in the flavor. The hops carry this beer. If you’re not a hop fan, steer clear, because that’s what this beer is all about. Light weight, fragrant finish that is quite short. Banana, pine, peach and melon all dance in the mouth. Wow!! Maddog (249), Kettering, Ohio, USA

This American style wheat is one fantastic brew. Since I’ve started homebrewing, Amarillo hops have become my favorite. I love those citrus aromas and what a blast of hop flavor. This is one of my all time favorite wheat beers. meathookjones (245), Sterling, Virginia, USA

Pours a cloudy golden orange color with a rocky white head. Left a fantastic lacing on the glass as it was drank. Aroma is hoppy with citrus grapefruit notes as well as mild malts. Flavor is definatly wheat heavy with a nice hoppy kick to it with a bit of lemon detected. Very smooth and easy drinking especially for a wheatbeer. This has a great mouthfeel. I will definatly be picking some more of this up and doing some research to see what "Gumballhead" did to have such a great beer named after him. Cornfield (4972), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA

I’ve had this year’s on tap at the brewery and from the bottle, and it’s definitely hoppier and thusly, tastier to this hop-head than it used to be. Ergo, I’m upping my rating from 5/4/6/4/13 to 7/4/8/4/17. So there!
9/8/2004A nice wheat, but I was concerned when I witnessed a lager-only buddy slamming these down from the tap at the Maple Tree. Then again, maybe he’s growing. It’s got a nice amber color and a full off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma with an underlying grassiness. Good taste with a nice dosage of spicy hops. Refreshing.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 2, 2005 Clear and golden with a long lasting, off white head. Has that quality ale look, where bubbles move at a moderate pace to the surface, where they support a leisurely, long lasting head. Grassy, lemon, froot loop aroma. Sweet and resinous with a smooth palate and generous body. Big hop flavor and nice lacing. American Wheat IPA? StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 11, 2005 Beautiful hazy orange in color with a minimal, bubbly white head. Aroma is very crisp; hoppy, pine, grass and honey. Taste is very good and refreshing, initially seeming like a Belgian Wit crossed with an American IPA. Pineapples and oranges really come out. Some hints at vanilla and amarillo, transitioning taste to resemble something similar to the sweetness of strawberry Pop Tart frosting. Body is a little thin, but perfect for a summer quaff. Highly hopped and carbonated, but the malts play a good supporting role. Finish is bitter sweet. Summer beer? - hell yes it is. Matches the season perfectly. Thanks for the extra bottle, MrFacto! Poured a nice looking yellow and had a big head that left lots of lacing. The aroma was slightly sweet and so was the first sip. Not too hoppy ... this was unlike any wheat beer I’ve ever had. I’ll wait ’til it gets a bit warmer and try this one again.
