Commercial Description:
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Once again, thanks to Eric (tannertavernboys) for bringing me back some tasty 3F from Dark Lord day. Clear and golden with an amber tint. Ring of white head. Citrus hop nose. Caramel malt aromas. Medium and smooth.with a zesty dry finish. Wheaty and grassy. Lively with a sweet citrus note. Leaves a mildly tart, sour flavor in the finish. Slight apple note. Second glass. Nice sized sediment, but still rather clear. More cirtus and floralness in the nose. Honeyish. Delicious. As it warms it opens up and stretches out, broadening the flavor profiles. Dry and more intense yeast note. Hops are bigger and more layered. Hop notes include citrus and a floral spiciness. Notes of fruit and cherries?

I love this stuff. Could drink like 15, yet it has good character. Nice citrus hop aroma and really does kind of taste like original flavored bubble yum. Light yet flavorfull. It’s a really good lighter beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. Extremely nice hop character for a wheat beer. Good citrus flavors, pine, grapefruit. I am still amazed about how the beer is so much more hoppy than any wheat beer I’m used to. Fantastic!

Pours a half shade darker than macro yellow with a mediocre head and lotsa bubbles streaming to the top. Worried? Well, a little bit. All I had to do to assuage my fears was put my nose over the glass. In one word, this aroma is juicy. Fantastic resinous tropical fruit peach scented hops. If only all IPAs were this bold! There’s a subtle light malty sweetness to fill out the aroma profile. Great mouthfeel for a wheat or any other beer for that matter. Creamy and smooth, foaming up on contact with the mouth. Though this is a great beer in the aroma, it falters slightly in the taste, though perhaps only because the aroma is so big. The same juicy hops immediately attack. You get that lovely grapefruit on the sides of the tongue taste from this beer, which I also enjoy. The light sweet malt balances the big hops with some wheaty bread-like notes taking over in short order. A lingering hoppy bitterness decays slowly in a very pleasant way. Though this lacks complexity, I still enjoy this beer. This is a wheat beer that defies convention. I’m really glad to see a wheat that doesn’t taste of banana/cloves or have some silly fruit flavor. Definitely my favorite wheat beer of all time.

Pours pale, hazy gold, with a half-inch head of white. A few white, flakey particulates make their way to the bottom. Retention is fairly brief, and no lacework. Aromatics lead off wit a blast of peaches, melons, and tangerines. Extremely tropical and fresh. A hint of lemon zest follows through. On the light side of medium bodied, somewhat crisp and creamy also. Peach halves, mangos, and juicy citrus start the pallet. Sugared pink grapefruit steps forward and theres a hint of malt. Bitterness is nill, and the beer drinks quick. Finishes with shades of apricots, peach fuzz, and papaya. I had this years ago, and was not impressed. This one, however is top-notch, and I’m tasting quite fresh. Plenty of hoppy goodness in the nose and middle. Yum.

Bottle Pour at the Onion Pub in Barrington, Illinois. pours golden with great citrus notes and notes of flowers. Drinks with heavy citrus notes and a nice easy finish for a wheat.

Fantastic Wheat Beer. Great hop aroma. Citrus-sweet taste. A very palatable beer for this style. This is a great summer session beer.

Hazy golden color. Very nice aroma, sweet fruity and resiny hops, very fresh. Quite weak body, some malty sweetness, and most of all an excellent extreme hopping. Really refreshing and enjoyable!
