Eyedrinkale (3111), Beer Town, New York, USA Apr 27, 2008 Pint at 3F. Pours light brown with a small head. Aroma is rich Bamberg smoked malts. Flavor is mildly hopped and the smoke is middle of the road. This stuff should go one way or the other, instead it just stands in the middle.
Miver (435), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2008 On draft at Three Floyds. Poured amber in color with a small beige head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked rye malts. Tastes of rye bread, smoked malts, smoked jerky meat, with some mild spices. I love smoked beers and I’m becoming a big fan of rye malts. I could have drank this all night. It was really a pleasure to try. SkyinBrian (403), Collinsville, Illinois, USA Sep 22, 2008 Imperial pint at the FFF Brewpub. While the smokey flavor is definately in the forefront here, this beer still has a nice sweet malty balance that makes this well rounded. yum. marcus (1053), Sacramento, California, USA Sep 21, 2008 On tap at the brewery. This amber ale poured with a thin off-white head and a smoky aroma. The flavor, too, is smoked malt and quite spicy with a carbonated mouthfeel and a slightly bitter finish. NobleSquirrel (685), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 21, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Pours a light amber with a small head. Nose is smokey with beef jerky and spicy rye bread coming through. Taste is nice, with your mouth being hit by salty ham washed down with rye soup, light spicing, some cinnamon and spice. Nice body and mouthfeel. Very nice. djcoolhark (21), South Bend, Indiana, USA Aug 8, 2008 What a cool beer. Tastes like a rye beer with a sweet smoked ham aftertaste. Upon ordering, the waitress told me to get a small glass, which I’m glad I did. A good taste, but not something I could drink a lot of.
