Aroma is smoke, chocolate, caramel, and hops. Some cardboard is also present, and tinniness.
Taste is slightly sour, smoky, chocolate, and caramel. I get more cardboard.
Slightly old and funky, with a touch of hops.
Solid, but nothing mindblowingly amazing.
For a Scottish, this is very good.

Jan 4, 2010 Bottled at Monks Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Pours out in a clear dark reddish brown with a rich sticky off-white head. Big fat malty nose of caramel, peat, fusge and dried dark fruits. Nearly full-bodiedn with notes of caramel, milky chocolate, fudge, peat and tobacco. Long fat malty sweet finish offidge, caramel, sweet licorice and peat.

Jan 1, 2010 Barn dust on in the aroma, light leather. Flavor has a big chocolate roast malt heart, raisins too. This is a fantastic beer, i can very well see me enjoying this in an irish pub. Three Floyds has won me over again.

Jan 1, 2010 Bottle 12oz. - Poured dark mahogany color with thin off white head.
Aroma - musty, damp basement mixed with leather and grape blowpop suckers.
Flavor - lightly sweet, tastes like grape blowpop and old woodsy oak.
Palate - medium bodied beer with slick texture. Carbonation is average and finish is dusty and has little aftertaste.
Overall - Awesome Scottish Ale!! I dig this style and this is done very well. Another bonus is this beer is 7.2% ABV. and tastes more like 4%!

Dec 30, 2009 12 oz. Bottle. Pours a dark brown, with a slight head that continues to live on the glass. A hearty woody/hoppy aroma. A medium to heavy mouthy feel. A warm, slightly alcoholic finish. Roasted malt is quite evident but balance of hops serves this great offering well.

Dec 29, 2009 On tap at the Three Floyds on 7/21/09. Pours beautiful dark amber with frothy head and great lacy. Nice roasty caramel aroma, touch of smoke. Very smooth balanced sweetness of brown sugar with a fantastic finish.

Pours a clear mahagony with a white head that does not linger.
Aroma is mostly malt with currant, raisin and spice. I get some esters on the end. Well balanced.
Mouthfeel is full and bready with some viscous nature to it.
Full flavored malt taste with very little bitterness. Some cherry on the finish. Well constructed. I have only tried a few of the Three Floyds’ brews and this is my least favorite, but it is still a good offering.

Dec 29, 2009 Red-brown, beige color head with simple lacing. Aroma is roasty, cocoa, toast, smoke. Taste is sweet, caramel, cocoa, pine hops.

The look: Clear light ruby-bown topped by an off-white ring of foam
In long: Light nose of fruity caramel. Taste is straightforward caramel, toffee, dried fruits, milk chocolate, green peas (not unpleasant), tree roots. The beer is sweet but doesn’t feel heavy thanks to the woody hops that dry it out nicely. Medium body and medium carbonation. Name after a former King of Scotland, England’s northern suburb.
