Taste is slightly sour, smoky, chocolate, and caramel. I get more cardboard.
Slightly old and funky, with a touch of hops.
Solid, but nothing mindblowingly amazing.
For a Scottish, this is very good.

Pours out in a clear dark reddish brown with a rich sticky off-white head. Big fat malty nose of caramel, peat, fusge and dried dark fruits. Nearly full-bodiedn with notes of caramel, milky chocolate, fudge, peat and tobacco. Aroma - musty, damp basement mixed with leather and grape blowpop suckers.
Flavor - lightly sweet, tastes like grape blowpop and old woodsy oak.
Palate - medium bodied beer with slick texture. Carbonation is average and finish is dusty and has little aftertaste.
Overall - Awesome Scottish Ale!! I dig this style and this is done very well. Another bonus is this beer is 7.2% ABV. and tastes more like 4%! Pours a clear mahagony with a white head that does not linger.
Aroma is mostly malt with currant, raisin and spice. I get some esters on the end. Well balanced.
Mouthfeel is full and bready with some viscous nature to it.
Full flavored malt taste with very little bitterness. Some cherry on the finish. Well constructed. I have only tried a few of the Three Floyds’ brews and this is my least favorite, but it is still a good offering. lithy (1855), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

The look: Clear light ruby-bown topped by an off-white ring of foam
In long: Light nose of fruity caramel. Taste is straightforward caramel, toffee, dried fruits, milk chocolate, green peas (not unpleasant), tree roots. The beer is sweet but doesn’t feel heavy thanks to the woody hops that dry it out nicely. Medium body and medium carbonation. Name after a former King of Scotland, England’s northern suburb.
